Up to you whether you want to limit your answer to software that is possible/realistic
A task / to do organizer that:
-
intelligently populates a “do today” list while handling dependancies and scheduling
-
is editable and viewable by multiple people, has individual tasks for each user, and also pulls from a list of shared tasks
-
keeps a record of when and by who previous tasks were completed
-
is capable of but does not require integration with calendar, fitness tracker, and messaging
-
A multimedia centre like Kodi or Jellyfin with the ability to schedule shows like it was a regular TV channel. With shows playing on their time slots, a random movie starting every day at ten.
There are times that I just want to turn on the TV and watch whatever is on without having to scroll through the entire library for something I could be in the mood for.
I use kodi on a pretty basic level for about 15 years now. I’m almost sure that somethi g like this should exist, no?
Scenario: I am sitting on the sofa and I type, I want to go to the dentist / cinema / vacation; and fully automatically the entire exercise (ticket, appointment, billing, payment, seatreservations, return trip etc etc) is planned, all I need to do is wait for the calendar reminder. And all of that is naturally fully protected by sound data privacy.

An immortal worm that drains wealth from billionaires, launders it, and redistributes it as some kind of deus ex machina bonus to everyone else or to charities.
Nurse here. The software we chart with (that I’ve used at least - plenty out there I haven’t touched) ranges from meh to absolute shit. Some of the features on my wishlist would be elimination of redundant charting (like, if put the date down in one section, don’t fuckin ask in 3 others!), a way to save templates without patient-specific data, so when I do the same procedure on 5 different people, I can just click the template and fill in any holes instead of starting from scratch each time. Some actual standardization so different programs can actually talk to eachother. Like, ER, scheduling, preop, surgery, anesthesia, recovery, med surg, and sterile processing are all departments that might be involved in a single patient visit (checked into ER, sent for emergency surgery, then kept overnight for observation before discharge)… there’ll be some overlap, but scheduling, anesthesia, and sterile processing are usually each rocking their own unique software. The others are usually decently linked up nowadays, but still with the odd exception… like trying to get surgical updates from ICU so you know when to have a bed ready; but the chart is just dead and now a PACU nurse is calling report cuz the surgery finished 40 fuckin minutes ago, all because some some jackass in the ER left the patient’s chart open which locked everyone else out of signing their notes. Surprise!
…most of the issues with our charting software boils down to dumb shit like that - proprietary systems that are incapable of communicating, or just good ol’ fashioned garbage design. And it’ll stay that way, cuz oligopoly.
As someone who’s worked with data from the backend of these systems I feel your pain. Why does someone need 10 different DoB’s over the course of 3 visits and why did those 3 day visits occur on 8 different days?
As a frequent patient I understand why everyone is always asking me my DOB excessively, to make sure they’ve got the right person and that I’m ‘with it’ enough to call the shots about my health, I assume? I guess that translates to paperwork too.
Commandline shell which isn’t in a terminal emulator. A nice GUI, and easy discoverability of useful features. It can do everything your traditional commandline shell can do, but it doesn’t live in the 70’s.
I started developing a prototype of this a few years back, but I just don’t have the self discipline to stick with it long enough.
Accurate search engine that strips ai generated articles from search results.
Accurate product search engine, that finds what I am looking for instead of ads, and includes searching by what the product is made of, it’s shape etc. Last time I was trying to find no glue no glass non-welded no plastic tea infuser it took me far too long.
Something that would remove clickbait articles, AI slop, propaganda, commercials and probably more that are poisoning our lives.
There goes 90% of the internet …
Sounds wonderful!
Please take my money. I would pay thousands for this
Let me quickly throw the task at the LLM of my choice and start a campaign to promote it. /s
Community driven search engine. Where everyone can upvote/downvote/tag or even comment on page or service, to filter out garbage services and help increase visibility of valuable sites.
That would probably require being logged in and verified as a real, unique person, otherwise bots would make it garbage really fast.
I’m actually making it. Official 1.0 release is a few weeks out as I work on LLC/App Store approvals, but it’s pretty much there. BookPocket, a book tracker/reading log that treats sources/recommenders as actual entities and can learn whose tastes you share and prioritize your TBR based on those. I was annoyed the book tracker I used has been leaning heavily on AI recommendations, and none of the options out there offered this kind of functionality. I hope others find it useful, but at the very least, I’ve replaced the book tracker I was using with it and it’s helped me prioritize the books I actually want to read from my endless list.
Does that mean it’s a service that looks at what other users have read to build recommendations? Otherwise what is a source/recommender?
No, all sources are ones you create and private to your account by default. So if a friend of mine recommends a book, I can add the book to my list along with adding a custom source for that friend/noting the reason they recommend it so I can remember to talk to them about it if I do read it.
If that friend ends up joining BookPocket and adding me as a friend, I can then connect them to the source I created and we can set privacy settings for what’s shared between us. But sources are inherently custom and could be a person, podcast, library, etc. I was already doing this with tags in my last book tracker, like #recommendation #recommendation-sarah would go on a book that Sarah recommended to me, so I could use those tags to surface books actual humans recommended to me. This just pushes that a step further and allows me to add notes both on the person and the recommendation about why they recommended it, and open up new vectors for prioritizing/yearly stats.
The core idea is to be able to prioritize my reading based on recommenders/sources I trust and tend to like their recommendations the most (and those I shouldn’t prioritize) rather than AI/algorithm based recommendations.
A program that continuously poisons all corporate AI data sets.
A proper Enterprise lab tracking/management system
An ad blocker, but it doesn’t just block the ad, it engages with it based on your defined parameters. You get a blacklist/whitelist setup, so you can list businesses and topics you want to support and businesses you don’t. Now every aldi ad that I don’t actually see gets a bot version of my engagement to convince advertisers that I’m into that, but every Nestlé ad gets reported for abuse with links to their many, many crimes. All the while, it looks like I’m engaging with the advertising like a good little consumer without ever having to waste my own time.
The environment is genuinely a give and take, and I wonder what part of the adpocolype is caused by garbage data due to ad blocking. Instead, we opt out. Instead of digging through our trash and spying in our movements we just give them an itemized list and tell them to fuck off.
Something similar exists, which just clicks all blocked ads: https://adnauseam.io/
Or even better. An ad block that would cost them money and make me some.
Kinda like having an 0800 number that when someone spams me I make the difference.
