Once I have sent a very acid e-mail to ‘All’ = a few thousand people in the company, including all bosses, when I had enough of how badly all our bosses behaved.

I had not written anything wrong, so it took them a while :-) and then I got a lengthy reprimand about one or two bad words I had used, and they said these were not officially allowed (of course such a list of disallowed words did not exist at all, but who cares LOL).

I decided to leave this mess, but in my time, so I started looking and then quit when I had found a better job.

It is the technical value for “contrast” that is better, but I would never go as far as calling that “image quality”.

1. Because stupid consumers have accepted it

2. Because the spec for “contrast” can reach very much higher numbers when measured in ideal conditions on such a “bathroom mirror” display than on a matte one. Ideal conditions include a totally dark room with no ambient light whatsoever, and the measurement is taken exactly vertically to the screen’s surface

Of course, matte displays actually look better in real world conditions.

You want to go from gardening to (small) farming, in order to have your own food? Then the next thing to think about is how to store your food for a long time. Have several large fridges. But more important, have several dark, dry, cool rooms, maybe in the basement.

Who is your enemy?

If it is just some random burglar, create some fear with triple locks and cameras and you are good.

If it is a government operation, you better leave the country before they even start looking for you.

Not very far away anymore from calling a plain and simple light switch “AI”.

That’s the stuff where we lose out to corporate products.

They sometimes lose things as well.

And they harrass their users in other ways, for example by randomly renaming stuff to “AI…” or even integrating with AI.

The “Chopper” case in Germany, 1981.

Someone/something talked with a ghost-like voice in the middle of a telephone call, or out of a sink or a toilet, and it said very detailed and creative insults, many of them, mostly against a dentist and his young female assistant, and of course all their patients heard it.

People felt terrorized.

It made the news headlines for about 2 years. Ghost experts got involved. It kept the police busy. TV shows etc.

In the end they found that the assistant was doing it. They never really found out the reason why she did it.
