I think generation alpha sounds cooler than generation y. Gen X and Z are pretty cool too though.

It’s the lemmy way. How else will people grab attention?

Because it took 10, 20 years for them to start to know their ass from a hole in the ground. So they take all the pain of their learning experience and lob it back at you whenever you remind them of themselves starting out.
They might also resent newbies for the much better learning materials available today and even the possibility for easy shortcuts (llms). Back then there was no substitute for sitting down and fiddling with it for hours or reading a some poorly-written book.

I’m as leftist as they come, but at a certain point you have to acknowledge that what you see on lemmy will make you mentally ill if you overdo it

Doom has already been said, so my next pick is Freelancer. There hasn’t been a space game I’ve liked as much since it came out. TIE Fighter and FreeSpace have more tactical combat, but Freelancer has it all: world building, factions/politics, trading, piracy, satisfying exploration, a nice variety of ships and loadouts, and a great story.
Recently went back and played some Civ 4 and it’s so much better than the modern ones. Pretty much a perfect game.
I saw another source that claimed ~25% of the top-rated games are DRM-free, so it seems to be quite lopsided. And even moreso if you happen to like indie games I imagine
How are people still being able to post anything on there?
They’re not. You’re seeing bots.

Every time a community posts that crap, I block it.
It only took like a day and I don’t see that stupid BS anymore.
