Bernie is a true believer and the closest thing to a politician I trust. How he’s been treated by the establishment is a great illustration of how corrupt our entire system has become, and his patience in continuing to navigate it without giving up or selling out is… Really something.

I mostly love a bernie but I’ll believe “paid off” when they actually get some real systemic changes completed. Flipping seats should be the means, not the goal.

The best I ever felt voting was when I voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary.

So many neo-liberal apologists out there for what the DNC did. I asked one why they did it anyway if “progressives” don’t show up to vote. They got angry, MAGA CHUD angry.

If more people voted for him in primaries, he would’ve move DNC to the left. This is a reminder to vote in primaries.

It’s not about what we do or don’t deserve.

If people needed to deserve good governance before they could have it, the world would be a fascist hellhole forever.

This is about what’s right or wrong. Good governance is what’s right, and Bernie knows that, and that’s why he fights for it whether we deserve it or not.

Maybe ask him? You know after he caucused with the Dems and achieved policy victories?

Does Bernie’s own actions count or is it just your feelings?

Right! That’s why he immediately caucused with Dems and the dnc after that election. Right?

Truth is, Bernie is all in with the DNC. Yet you post what?

Bernie knows more than you and his actions prove how little you know. He works with others rather than demonizing groups. Thats the long game. Not talking shit.

I mean… he won but got fucked out of it. That’s what the “Hilary’s emails” stuff was all about, clear collusion between her and the DNC to subvert their own processes. It’s interesting and important history if you’re looking for a rabbithole today

What exactly happened with that? I know he won the first couple states like Iowa and NH but then the superdelagates didn’t choose him or something? But by that point I thought he was already losing in the next batch of state elections (because he was too “radical” while Hilary was the “safe” choice).

Yeah, superdelegates negotiating a deal vs directly representing their constituencies was the core of it. Apparently she’d made prior concessions in exchange for it being “her turn” that time and the nomination was essentially decided before voting began. When things weren’t working out that way the superdelegates were told how to vote and did, the arguments where she insisted on that were a highlight of the email leaks. It was a long time ago and I’m probably not the one to ask, tf even is a “superdelegate”? Sounds made up.

For President, sure, but what’s wrong with age with Senate Majority Leader? He has the cognitive capacity obviously and still tours the USA. Seems a befitting capstone to his public service and experience.

If the worst happens… They just change leader.

You also don’t really put freshman Senators in that role for a few reasons.

I would say also: the agenda that won the day is Bernie’s. He defined this agenda and the wave that just came into power lives in his shadow.

The new generation of progressives needs to start doing stuff and legitimizing itself and Bernie already has all the legitimacy he needs. Also you never know when he’ll start mentally declining and the divisions inside the progressive wing that would produce would be pretty bad; it wouldn’t be as simple as “just find another guy.”

The movement that led to at least 18 progressive victories in congressional races and 42 left-wing winners down-ballot “started with a man with 1% vote and three people at his announcement” of his presidential bid in 2015, said one organizer Tuesday night as Democrats won control of the US Senate and House, a majority of governorships, and made major gains in state legislatures.

“Bernie made the path” for progressive politicians to win crucial elections, said a labor organizer based in San Francisco, referring to Sen. Bernie Sanders(I-Vt.). “This wave has been a long time coming.”
