Hopefully over time more people build the intuition that when we talk about power the baseline is “bad” and at best we can be talking about “bad vs worse”.

They call it “critical support”, basically the enemy of my enemy (the west) is my friend.
In theory the critical part is meant to imply they criticise the bad stuff the friend does, and only support the good. The reality is they rarely if ever speak out critically and only show support because being critical hurts their friends ability to do ‘good’.
