Yeah, kind of. It would not be as bad or as brazen but it would be more organized and less noticeable, because the “liberal” branch of the oligarchy (which owns half the media) would keep quiet about it (same as under all other Dem presidents), and the conservative media would just lie so that they can campaign harder on deportations.

The capitalist oligarchs (who actually own both parties) have been ramping up the xenophobic, anti-immigrant rhetoric for a while. Obama still holds the record for most immigrants deported, Biden was strengthening ICE and ramping up the mass deportation machine before Trump was even elected, and Kamala promised to continue Biden’s policies in that regard. See also:

TL;DR voting won’t save your country, it is fucked either way. I would also prefer the slightly slower and less overtly fascist fucking by Kamala, I’d even vote for her, but you need to join those who are building an alternative to the dictatorship of capital. Otherwise it’s going to be a down-spiral of lesser-evil fucking over the country for profit and losing the election, the bigger-evil fucking over the country even harder while pushing the overton window to the right, ad nauseam.

I’m sorry, do you actually think the problem I’m referring to is the number of illegal immigrants being deported?

I’m sorry, the problem is that both parties are subservient to the capital. Voting for Kamala would mean most things are slightly less bad (perhaps there wouldn’t be as many ICE raids), but the overall direction would be similar. Don’t get me wrong, I’d do it still, but it’s not a solution, more like a dirty bandaid on a gaping wound.

In any case, after 4 more years of neoliberals fucking over the working class to increase rate of profits, the people would be angry and would vote for the opposition anyways. It would just be delaying the inevitable. Perhaps the best outcome from Kamala winning would be that you would have more time to build up alternatives to the two-party dictatorship, which is slightly easier when there’s at least a pretense of liberalism and human rights.

ICE is shooting innocent people in the face in broad daylight and the President is running cover for them.

Shut the fuck up with this rhetorical bullshit.

Make sure your lemmy settings are set to show the instances of users. If you see a braindead take from an .ml, you’re not talking with a good faith actor. Don’t take the bait.

As opposed to police strangling and shooting innocent people in broad daylight, and the president having the plausible deniability that they can’t stop it, because the system of government is designed that way and neither party wants to change it? Yeah, sounds like a massive difference, that.

I mean, I’m happy that you’re mad about it now, and presumably doing something, but if you stop once dems are back in office the country will inevitably come back to full-blown fascism in another few years.

This kind of bullshit comment is why people equate tankies with fascists.

They are both authoritarian. Both are pretty much identical to me. Authoritarians are just the fucking worst in any aspect.

What particularly in my comment made you think I support the fascists? (Also, while generally I am pro-USSR, I think sending the army to Budapest was a wrong response to the uprising)

Little extreme, but I get lesser of too evils and so on. I usually tell people I vote based on the pass doings of the parties and what they promise. The pass doings of the Republicans party is a lot worse than the Democrats. Probably should stop voting for old bitter people. Unfurtunately old bitter people do most of the voting.
