I assume that if you’re a woman and a republican, you hate yourself (and other women/girls). You’re probably unbearable to be with.

I’m okay with it under very limited conditions. To boil it down, I have to be 100% sure that they’re joking. For one thing, people say that shit seriously and then claim “it was just a joke”.

Without things like tone of voice and facial expression for people to go on, you’re gonna be misunderstood sooner rather than later. And yes, you might even find yourself banned. I’d suggest finding a different technique.

You’re right about the lack of diverse opinion. Still, so much of American media is center-right to far right, I feel like they’ve more than gotten their say. I see Lemmy as an oasis for opinions that are underexposed elsewhere.

If I want to read some tech bro rambling about how less privacy is good for us, or an “ordinary persons” opinion on how school shootings are the price we must pay for freedom, I can go virtually anywhere else.

For those of you who don’t know, “I love you 3,000” is a quote from Avengers: Endgame. It’s particularly adorable because it’s said by a little girl, and three thousand is probably the largest number she can imagine.

I have massive respect for anyone who’s been addicted, done the work, and overcome it. It shows a level of determination, maturity, and self awareness that many people don’t have.

I’m one of those people. However, I hope I’m wrong, and choose to vote (and consume/recycle) as if I am.
