Earth will level up and we will all awaken the use of mana. With this we will solve the fosil fuels crisis, solve world hunger, unite humanity, create wealth parity and AI will be obsolete. But we will have to sent our earthen warriors to represent us in a battle royal against alliens whose planets also leveled up. If our warriors do well, we will unlock even more mana, but if they do badly, we won’t improve our mana capacities.

That or same as the past years, just everything a little bit shittier. I’m hoping for #1 for obvious reasons.

I wasn’t really really going for a certain work or franchise but rather using a very commun trope in Korean comics.

        Is Goblinization worth a read?

That’s what the event is called in the Shadowrun lore in which people spontaneously started to turn into all sorts of meta humans. I would argue there are Shadowrun novels worth reading, yeah

ah but you must be aware that the awakening of mana in humans will lead to wild animals awakening mana too. this in turn will cause most of the land on our planet to be overrun with beasts, while empowered birds and fish will make travel by boat/plane nearly impossible

Yeah, but we can teleport, also some mana users may be able to tame or create artifacts to tame some mana beasts making them essential in everyday life. But yeah, at the start it would be quite a challange, specially the oceans as they are already scary enough without monsters in them.

Lol you’re totally right I’m just playin. That’s still way too little for such a huge country!

We really need a lot more. I rode the BART in the California Bay Area and it was awesome. I wish we could get that all over.

Just playin’ back. And we have lots more than a half dozen, but we really do need more.

I moved to Hampton Roads and actually have decent access to Amtrak (although haven’t had the money to go anywhere since we’ve been here), but the VAST majority of the nation has no easy access.

I’d much prefer that we had like half as much rail as we do air travel. I’d like it to be super common, and I’d like to take it everywhere :)

And yes, more light rail, too. We had DART add lines while I still lived in DFW, and that was nice - if you were anywhere close. heh

Unaddressed population concern grow so much that it create a power vacuum that anyone can take ? Yeah it s already hapenning in the UE everywhere but I fail to see the link with nazi. But it s a good thing since it will shake the oligarch etablissment. And hopefully the UE that is so far away from citizen concern and got too much power recently

In the US, midterms are just over a month away. New officeholders will take office early next year. As things stand, the Democrats are very probably going to take the House of Representatives and looking more likely than not to take the Senate. Either will give them the power to conduct investigations into Executive Branch activity. I would predict unprecedented use of this power. I’d bet that a lot of Trump administration figures are going to be spending most of the next two years sitting in front of Congress being grilled and with the Executive turning over information on its activities to Congress, some which will probably wind up in the press.

Best case scenario it will stop most of the damage, but with veto power from the white house, nothing will get fixed.

The prediction I’ve been making since he got reinstalled is that trump will be out of office one way or another by around March–sometime after the new Congress is sworn in. I should say IF it actually does get sworn in, which is not guaranteed whatsoever–repubs have a trick up their sleeves to use a technicality in the Constitution to refuse to seat them, and if they do, I don’t trust SCOTUS to try and stop them or succeed even if they do try.

Others: Canada and the EU will become closer and both will continue to pull away from the US as well as US tech. They’ll also start building their militaries up more. Russia/Ukraine and US/Iran wars will drag on. Climate change will continue to be unaddressed by anyone.

The AI bubble will probably burst in 2027 but it may take longer. The longer it takes the worse the economic effects will be.

    On the positive side,
