Will it work? IDK, it didn’t seem to pan out all that well in '18. It seems like Trumps ability to do Karl Rove-style “activate the base” turnout juicing doesn’t have the same effect in midterms. Honestly I don’t think Trump can help but make it about himself, whether or not it’s good strategy. But Democrats have a history of being confidently smug and wrong about their chances.
