Lemmy’s original Owl of the Year winner!

Absolutely lovely owls. I tried to go to a place to see one, but it got relocated after a flood, so I missed out. Still the #1 owl I want to meet.

Feel free to share in the [email protected] community if you’d like!

      Ha I shall treasure it!

I don’t know where you based but they have at least three where I went. They have a great selection of owls, one of the best I have ever seen

Me, funny as that sounds, it went into the tree from its man made perch then gave me the evil eye as I think it thought my camera lens was a big eye

This spot is sadly a bit far for me, I’m on the US east coast.

The one I’d go to is Scottish Owl Centre, the largest collection of owls in the world. It’s far from the Screech Owl Sanctuary, but they have over 150 owls total and over 50 species. They are looking to retire and hopefully find someone able to take over operations, but who knows, so if you’re into owls and in the UK, I’d check that place out.

I get to hold owls and feed them, but I don’t get much variety, so I’m always seeking out fancy owls to visit.

I did wonder if you remotely close, still you could combine with the Scottish one, and the bird of prey place down the road from screech to see soon many birds, trip of a lifetime!

I want to go to Scotland for birding so bad, I have to get it sorted. This looks like another cracking place to go! I wish more places did photo shoots

We have a number of rescues that do photo shoots, but you guys get flight displays, which we don’t. I need to get me a passport!

Those are something else, best coming when it cooler as they do longer flight paths, they kept them pretty short hops yesterday due to how hot it was

I’ve been so nervous for our bird friends here. We’ve just gotten a break from the extreme heat, but now we have wildfire smoke making the air itself dangerous from halfway across the continent.

They’ve been shutting down our outside work for safety, and birds have more sensitive breathing than we do, so it must be tricky fire she the millions of birds and many other animals in that range.

Minneapolis to Boston is about 1800km, and Google tells me England is 1400km to give you an idea of scale.

Its shameful the lack of coordinated action from both the US and Canadian government, there should be a proper joint emergency action before wildfire season starts, its not a surprise event and work can be done in advance to help alleviate the impact and spread

A very cool shot. Owls are too cool. I really need to drag my lazy butt outta bed early and scout for them.
