Does the U.S. have an official language?
Yes. English was designated as the official language of the United States in an executive order on March 1, 2025.
And apparently English is not even the most spoken language in it, by some recent surveys.
English 77%, Spanish 13.9%, other Indo-European languages 4.1%, Asian and Pacific languages 3.7%, other languages 1.3% (updated 2024 survey by the Census Bureau)

No, but we absolutely need to all start answering our phones with “Ahoy-hoy”.

I’d appreciate an apology.
American is the most spoken language in America and it’s not even close.
78% of the population vs 13% for Spanish which is the second most spoken language.

Which dialect of “American” is the right one, then?
The one that I speak.
That’s such an American answer.
And that’s coming from another American. God, we’re terrible sometimes.
“American” is the most spoken language… Lol, John McWhorter would like a word
