If anyone in the Jedi had been willing to just place Anakin on reserve duty and let him and Padme live somewhere peacefully, the whole saga would be different. Like, “Okay, so internally, you’re a Jedi Knight. You don’t have the authority to speak or act on behalf of the council, because you shouldn’t be gallivanting about anyway. Go be a dad, and bring balance to your own mind - then we’ll work on the Force.”
There were plenty of Jedi that retired to start families, the issue with Anakin was that he was trying to keep it secret. If the council had known, they would have worked it out, but he didnt tell them.
Yoda and Ki Adi Mundi really should have put Anakin into a youth program under a different master and made Obi-Wan stay a padawan for longer.
