Are you going to accuse them of penetrating themselves with their arrows while they fantasize about killing people? Of course not, because that would make you a sick weirdo.

Only if every soldier knows how to operate and maintain any kid of gun they can possibly come across, and only if they can magically build supply lines to move the right ammo to the right places without knowing where it all is ahead of time, and only if nobody booby traps anything. There’s a reason soldiers don’t procure on site unless they have to.

One of my least favorite tropes in sci-fi is ballistic weaponry being treated as ineffective simply because it’s “old” technology. I really liked how they were handled in the Animorphs series. The Andalites and Yeerks both agreed that human firearms and missiles were “primitive, yet undeniably effective”.

That depends on who the writer is. But a helpful equivalent might be to imagine trying to do the same thing to something like a laptop battery. It’s certainly possible, and probably not all that difficult under controlled circumstances. But doing it on a whim, “in the field” is probably difficult to accomplish on purpose, and there certainly isn’t a button you can press to make it happen because that would be incredibly dangerous to have on something you carry with you and use every day.

Yeah, that’s great and all, but consider the following:

If I’m standing in the middle of a field and I need to measure sixty-ish feet for a fence, and I don’t have a meter stick, I can get pretty close by walking heel-to-toe for sixty paces. There’s no equivalent method for a meter and no metric unit that has a human body equivalent, while the most imperial length units all have human body equivalents.

Also, even if I do have a meter stick, how tf am I supposed to measure and mark 0.288 of one? Sixty feet is easier to work with.

There’s also the matter of a foot being equally divisible into 2, 3, 4, or 6 equal lengths, all of which also have human body equivalents. If you know them all, and measurements relative to other objects aren’t required, you can build things that measure up relative to themselves by just using fingers, hands, feet, marks, a square, and a straight edge, no ruler or tape required. I have projects close to ten years old built that way that are still standing strong.

Everyone thinking this fairly represents every single person in the US is just as ignorant as this AG. Some of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
