I actually haven’t, and there are a few family members that I’d love very much to use this on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the thing you have deep knowledge of but never find a place to bring it up?
1·9 days agoYup, the eye glazing has begun while reading this thread. The world needs people like you so people like me don’t have to cock it all up

2·10 days agoOh this is perfect, thanks so much! I’ve got one of the hard drives in use but I could definitely wipe the other one to make a proper copy with the zpool.
Thanks for giving me a fun little week task!

1·10 days agoHaha, it was a year and a half ago, and it was a Canada Computers sale. Just checked and it doesn’t look like it’s TOO much more expensive yet, but who knows for how long.

1·10 days agoThat’s great, I’d love to not have to buy one of those machines, and I have been running my JF on a laptop just running Linux with a single one of the 16tb drives.
If the drives added to the pool need to be formatted, is there a possibility that it wipes the data on it? I’ll take a bit of time to read up on some of the options you mentioned.
Thanks for the help!

1·10 days agoThis feels like such a beginner question to be asking on Lemmy, let alone the tech community, but how does one go about setting up a RAID array to have my data mirrored? I only know the basics I remember about raid 1 and raid 0.
Is this RAID array something you can do without one of those “multi-hard drive units”? I have 2 16TB hard drives that I’d like to have one as a mirror copy of the first as a backup that updates at the same time but they feel too big to fit into one of those units. But maybe setting up a RAID array could be done programmatically.
I’d love and appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction!
Those Brussel sprouts are what I try and go for each time, if you don’t mind me asking, did you use the BBQ for everything or did you roast those in the oven?
Eyyy, just saw your other thread on this post and the details of your sprouts, pretty much identical to mine but the balsamic vinaigrette will be a must try next time!

4·10 days agoOh my god this is a real question and I’m getting old.

Counterpoint, Europe has its own borders and you can’t cross those if you’re not from inside of the EU. And even that is a specific subset of EU countries.
Akin to inter-provincial/across state line travel. I think a lot of people outside of Europe just view it the same as a provincial setup.
