Oh is that what they are? I did HVAC for a few months when the enviro field was slow. Saw them and thought they were the damnedest things.
I hated the survival mode. It didn’t really add much to anything, imo, and could have been built better.
I played morrowind without understanding how fast travel worked in that game for a long while. I get the immersion thing.

Yeah, but weirdos aren’t just straight. Tons of gay sexual predators, too, so the whole bathroom issue is a nothing burger.
Once again, we go on and off about protecting kids but do absolutely nothing to actually achieve that objective.
I asked a 797F haul truck driver that once lol.
Have you seen those little cardboard jig saws that are safe for kids? They’re like a little table saw set up but instead of spinning the ‘blade’ moves up and down.
If you guys make a lot of stuff like this together, you should consider one. They look fun.
I just checked and they are pricey - maybe you can find a knock off or a second hand one.

11·4 days agoThey say that searches are down.
This decline “does not reflect lower demand for the content,” said Kristin Roberts, president of USA Today Media. “What it reflects is lower referrals from traditional search because of those consumer discovery changes that we’re seeing and witnessing.”
Which, to me sounds like AI use or links from link aggregator like Reddit/Lemmy
Half sounds lin they are using AI to fix an AI problem.

69·4 days agoWhy is there such a hang up with where people pee or shit? Not to diminish trans struggles, but this should be a non-issue for law makers, not a state-by-state referendum on where a minority of people use the can.
I’d rather taste the rainbow…

Bingo. It’s like this here too.
Not usually. For my sphere, you need field time to understand how things work. The academic smarts gives you the horsepower to the hardest problems, but it doesn’t replace the foundational skills that comprise 97% of the work
Now it’s time to get your hands dirty with just about everything that comes your way and build up that experience. You’re not meant to be a master of your field, you’re meant to be able to think intelligently about your subject matter
Within your area of expertise too, even. In my field, Ph.Ds are viewed as being overqualified with not enough field experience

4·10 days agoFor a long time, I was a middling student. 65-75% grades, with the occasional 80 in something I was interested in. It’s unbelievable how much that limits you when you want to go further, or apply for a bursary or the like.
Part of it for me, was that I was slotted in the lower stream/special needs stream during high school. This was largely because I was bored to tears in school, had a ton of home drama going on at that time.
I did a pile of upgrading, and ended up graduating with 150 of the 100 credits needed. I managed to get accepted into a smaller collage, transfer to the university, I wasn’t exceptional at really anything until my 4th year of B.Sc., where the specialized topics came in and I could fill my boots. I worked hard, though, which was all I really had going for me.
I pulled up my socks enough to get into grad school, and welp, here I am 10 years later (15 years experience in my field) doing what I set out to do.
