It’s why the Romans didn’t use salt as a condiment, but fish sauce. The umami+salt is different and objectively better.

Three questions:
-
Zahi Hawass - was he just “on” as official national tour guide, or was he able to act like a real human, and if so, what was your read on him?
-
While out and about in the Sahara, ever hear of or run into a guy named “Camel Steve”?
-
Do you have a few JHMCS helmets with manufacturing flaws that you take home and let the kids run around with and play jet pilot?
Also, thanks for being a dude with stories on Lemmy.

Good choices are still choices. Ride the high, you earned it.

Yeah, but that’s cool and niche. Suave making people smell like the Cinnabon at the airport gives me the ick.
Thanks for the rundown. OK, I’ll give it a shot.
Why would anyone want to smell like this?!?!
OOooooooh… ok, well that’s a feature not a bug.
TIL - FINE, I’ll give a try!
I mean, I don’t jump from trend to trend, so I’ll support Lemmy until either the project gets depreciated and no more updates happen. I can still see everything because piefed is federated, so why jump from platform to platform every few months? What features really are there that make a difference?
I see a lot of piefed posts on Lemmy - are we not federated across so that we’re getting the milk without needing to buy the cow?
I have no idea, the account is new and this is their first post. The comm itself notes Zitron’s name in the description in the sidebar, though the only way I knew it was Zitron’s podcast was the title card is used as the header. My guess would be no.
OP, to be a bit more clear, this is about the Cool Zone Media podcast with Ed Zitron.
My thought exactly. Capitalism ain’t going anywhere anytime soon, and collapsing markets typically just bring about a new crop of people selling snake oil and taking advantage of others.
FWIW, a friend thought the calves and feet only scene in Wet Hot American Summer was the finest sex scene he had ever seen. It’s a product of its time, but it proves your point.
If it’s at home, I don’t mind something that is proportional and does the work of furthering the plot and conveying emotions. Film is an art form, so if it makes sense and doesn’t last long enough for me to turn to my partner and say “uh…did we switch movies?” then it’s fine IMO. 50-75% of GOT nudity was not necessary, for example. And we all know what was and what wasn’t.
On a plane, I always freak out, like I’m some pervert that chose that movie to show the whole plane some boobs. I didn’t know! I swear!

1·12 days agoIt’s also slow AF. It’s potentially faster to have someone read you text than get it by packet over radio.

8·12 days agoPacket over radio does exist, and it’s sloooooooooooooow and there’s tons of loss. Imagine the first modems over phone lines, then slow it down more.
Legally, in the US, it can’t be encrypted, either. A single geostationary satellite would be faster, especially if latency wasn’t an issue.
Language is like a muscle. If you don’t use it, it fades faster than you think.

To be fair, what even is “standing still”? I’m sitting in a chair in a spaceship made out of almost all the elements and water traveling around 220km/s relative to Sagittarius A.
