Not who you replied to but appreciate the heads up anyway. Misogyny online is such a bummer and I routinely forget it’s on me to curate my experience and all I have to do is hit the block button, lol. Your comment interrupted my rage-bait loop, gracias.

1·2 hours agoI also struggle to relate to this! My husband says he feels like this a lot, and I’m like, how? you’ve been speaking one language for 3 + decades, that’s plenty of practice lol! But that’s okay. He’ll get there eventually.

16·13 hours agoI had a friend once who told me that he really thinks the difference between people who are “good with plants” and people who aren’t is that the former just keeps trying, they don’t give up when they lose one, they accept that happens sometimes.
It’s a really beautiful thought but I would be totally lying if I said I wasn’t getting kinda discouraged lol

Games@lemmy.world•Dead Space creator Glen Schofield is retiring after 35 yearsEnglish
41·13 hours agoLol, I can’t put my finger on it but that makes a lot of intuitive sense to me. Maybe because he started out at EA where he accidentally made some great art for a while before the tides shifted toward squeezing consumers even more aggressively.
But it’s reddit, without teal saying “women are smarter than you are,” giving orange the chance to explain, we’d never know if he was just being misogynist or actually making a joke :(

123·21 hours agoLast year, Schofield said that he was “100% behind AI,” in game development, comparing worries over the technology eliminating jobs to the motion capture or Photoshop.
Oh so he’s a hack. Now we know why The Callisto Protocol sucked.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Incels deserve to be more celebrated. If they overcome their quirks they become a better person who is more likely to show empathy. If they remain they do us all a favor by not creating any offspring.English
20·1 day agoI keep seeing people try to rehab the word Incel online as a neutral term and I don’t understand it. It’s come to mean violent misogynist. Blablabla, it was originally coined by a woman, WE KNOW.
If you’re just a guy who isn’t a misogynist and is struggling to find a person to date, you’d say you’re currently single and looking, but it’s tough out there. Something like that. Hell, I doubt even devout terminally online incels actually self-identity as incels to people IRL because they know exactly what that word means to people should they recognize it.
If you’ve ever had to buy and sell a house, it’s a real pain in the ass. If you’re not really sure about a city yet, renting for a year makes more sense than buying, especially if you’re sure you want to stay longer than a hotel would make sense
Ummm that’s the only situation I can think of where it’s not just the picture on the right
If there’s no pressure to go onto the next call that’s actually not a bad gig! I’ve never worked at a call center like that, though. Call centers are really hard places to work that pay terrible.

I’m not sure what your comment means then. Modern day women are showing off for social media, yes, men also do this so it’s weird you single women out, but fine.
But that comparison only makes sense if you’re assuming the subjects of this painting also created the painting, which is how social media works, you’re taking selfies and stuff to show off yourself and your idealized life.
To answer your even stranger follow up question: If she was the painter, then she was an unusually skilled painter for her apparent age.
It’s definitely a misogynistic mindset, yeah. Women put on clothes for a variety of reasons like staying warm and avoiding sunburn, and sometimes we also pick clothes we find aesthetically flattering (shockingly men also do this). Calling it “advertising” comes from a perspective that women are necessarily focused only on men, and trying to trick men.
