“Do you think my tattoo is cool?” No, I don’t. There are no cool tattoos. “Check out my sleeve!” Oh god ew.

Tattoos themselves are stupid. Doubly so if it’s some media IP. “I put Batman on my body!” “Look at this image of Goku on my calf!” I can’t think of many things I’d want to do less than that.

There are a few narrow exceptions. Chances are yours isn’t one of them.

If you personally like tattoos, fine. I’m not saying nobody should get tattoos because I don’t like them. I’m stating my opinion that tattoos are stupid, and I am stating it here because it is probably not a popular opinion.

I don’t think this is an unpopular opinion. I think it’s barely an opinion by the narrowest and most technical definition of what an opinion even is.

Your opinion is just stupid. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have it or that it isn’t valid. If you personally like your opinion, that’s fine. I’m just saying that, in my opinion, your opinion is stupid.

“Do you think your opinion is cool?” No, I don’t. You don’t have some cool, edgy opinion. It’s just, “Wahhhh, I don’t like tattoos because I’ve arbitrarily decided not to, and I stick to it because it makes me feel special and unique compared to the majority.”

Dude, not liking something for entirely subjective reasons isn’t really an opinion, it’s a preference.

An opinion would be, “I don’t think anyone should get tattoos because…” followed by actual reasons. I’d still think you’re wrong, but at least that would carry more weight than simply whining about something you’ve personally decided not to like.

Oh, you’d like it if I thought that, wouldn’t you? Tell me what else to think, Daddy; I’ve been a sloppy sophist.

I think that you might have some… skin in the game. :sunglasses: :no sunglasses: YEEEEOOOOWWW!!

You know you’re the second person to use the word sophist and not know what it means.

Is there some kind of qualification to be a lemmy user that people don’t know the definitions of words?

Also, I asked you a question. I have no desire this way or that what I want you to think.

Do you smell burnt toast currently?

You asked a leading question that projects your strawman on me when you could have asked a genuine one. That is indeed sophistry. And now you insult my mental capacity twice. Real fuckin’ classy. Like I said, obviously you have skin in the game, and it seems you cannot manage your feelings to have a conversation on the subject without being abusive.

                This you?

It’s always a telltale sign when people can’t actually rebut anything I say and instead start throwing around words like “sophistry” without even using them correctly.

I’ve already told you that I don’t support AI data centers, that I have no great love for LLMs, that I agree there is already a surveillance apparatus in place, and that license plate scanners are used extensively for both law enforcement and marketing.

Instead, you keep pushing this idiotic conspiracy that there’s some nefarious plot to monitor people specifically through emerging AI technologies and the construction of AI data centers, when there is no objective evidence that this is true.

Then, when I present evidence supporting my position, you dismiss it by claiming it somehow isn’t evidence, or that I’ve manipulated my own words into making you believe something that isn’t true.

So yes, I called you an idiot. Because you’re acting like one.

You abandoned any chance of having a meaningful discussion the moment you stopped engaging with the argument and started acting like a sarcastic jackass.
