My 10 year account got banned for voicing criticism of the fascist State of Israel
What got you banned?
Who hasn’t been banned from a number of subs on reddit? It’s a fascist place.
I quit cold turkey after the API change. No one forced me to leave.
Someone posted something like Trump should die. Not exactly those words but the gist. I replied no, he should stroke out and live, suffering in a body he can’t control.
Permaband.
Hi :)
I wasn’t banned, but I rolled over after 3rd party apps were taken away on the day they stopped working. I only use the app for it so taking that away made it pretty easy to stop and no i wasnt going to use their own because they forced my hand. Apps were limited on lemmy at that time and had to wait like 4 months before the one i used to use was released, but it was worth it.
Same. I was a Lurker+, reading a lot of content and discussion but only contributing and commenting to a few smaller / local subreddits.
Set up an RSS Feed for sports & my local subreddit (from old.reddit.com) and started using Lemmy in my browser. Now I use Boost. Haven’t logged back into reddit since.
It works for my wants.
I also use Boost. Love it and no need to look at any others IMO.
me too, thanks.
Reddit didn’t ban me, I banned them.
You… I like you!
After Reddit cut off api access to third-party apps, I left. Well, not right away, I did give RedReader a try for a month or so.
Basically the same for me. After they squashed the counter protests I decided “fuck them”.
20 year old account with probably 10k karma. Not much by today’s standards, but I gave it my best.
does karma mean anything? I got more from a single bad joke on a popular community
I always interpreted it as the number of people whose day I made slightly better. That’s a nice feeling.
on reddit, its apparently makes your account more reliable as an actual user, so you wont get banned very easily. that is the theory, and does hold true to a certain point. reddit does detect/notice organic karma gain, and the ones that farm karma. and some subs require a certain amount of karma to engage in.
Banned? No. Other way around. I banned reddit from my devices after the API fiasco.
there is a way, but its much more convoluted. different IP/device and browser is the usual method, as long as you are not repeating the same exact pattern as before. but why spend that money anyways, the only people that do are the ones using reddit to drive traffic to thier own sites/OF agency, of whom reddit is constantly playing cat and mouse in detecting them. i also have supsicion reddit preferentially dont ban aggresively against propaganda bots as much as the ones i mentioned above.
Banned for using a VPN for “ban evasion” but never had been banned before.
Appealed. No response.
I took that as a fuck off message.
reddit seems to have banned vpn use since early 2024.
I came here after the Reddit API mess but still posted on Reddit.
Got a temporary Reddit ban for a short statement saying Biden was caught genociding, then recently a permanent ban for saying the only way Trump is leaving office is if 100,000 people drag him out. “Inciting violence.”
303,000 comment karma, 8,388 post karma, 14+ years.
Going corporate is never good.
I got ‘soft banned’.
I had stopped commenting on Reddit back in 2022 after receiving warnings on similar topics. Continued to lurk and scroll. Now reddit has an uncloseable popup on web telling me to use the app. So I don’t use reddit.
you would get banned if you logged in after a period of inactivity, i think many users noticed they got shadowbanned after using old accounts that went dormant and then suddenly became active. reddit was and still doing this since last year. allegedly its combat bot users who did the same method. it was noticed by a forum i visited on reddit bans/evasions.
I didn’t get banned. I left after the API change. I was already reducing use naturally, and what time I did still spend there was mostly to mod a very small niche hobby sub.
Without the mod tools I used before the API changes, plus the influx of MAGA-bots on reddit as a whole, I could longer mod the sub in a way the community asked for and that I was comfortable with. So I resigned, wished the remaining mods well, and went about my way.
There were other subs trying to go dark and impact reddit’s advertising opportunities, and reddit was banning some of the mods doing that sort of thing. I decided even if reddit changed course, I was past the point I could ever come back to it.
There was so many good apps before the Big Ban. Still hurts.
Dito, not banned, but left with the API change as well. Still keep RIF on my phone just so that if anyone sends me a redditink I get a 401:forbidden and have to reevauate if I actually give a shit enough to view it in a browser. The actual app is just as bad as ticktok when it comes to nicking every data point that isnt nailed down.
Left reddit in the api blockage
Now I spend my days shit chatting with MLs
No ban, it just reached a threshold of enshittification where I said “enough is enough” and left.
I just stopped using it. No ban necessary.
I did get one or two temporary bans some years ago. First time was for criticizing their censorship. The second time was for sending the middle finger emoji to Spez.
I’m not going to go out of my way to delete my dead user or posts or anything. It’s not my problem. Quite frankly, I just don’t give a shit about their site.
