    When cats do this kind of things i believe it’s often because those surfaces are cooler temperature than any kind of bedding, and currently they’re feeling a bit too hot. So maybe it’s the same in rats

      yup, rats do it as well.

      They will also sploot. Where they basically melt and turn into a puddle to increase contact with cooler ground
