Historically, many rich countries have acted this way. It’s how my dirt poor British ancestors ended up in rural Newfoundland. You don’t decide to board a rickety boat to a place you’ve only seen in pictures if your life is going well.

Right, and I really doubt there will be any new 1920’s Americas to emigrate too any time soon. I really hope the US can elect someone new. Some of these new candidates gaining traction aren’t corporate sponsored, which really gives me hope personally.

Not a half bad idea if you can afford it, but building alternative structures as the government and its institutions collapse is the best option IMO.

I think he’s suggesting that people emigrate, rather than immigrate.

I didn’t correct “in search for” to “in search of”, so you still had your chance to be pedantic. I didn’t want to be greedy.

Great suggestion Shapiro. Have every working class young American immigrate elsewhere and watch your infrastructure die as nobody replaces the existing workers…

I have no doubt Shapiro is saying this full well knowing that if they can’t afford to live in the US, they definitely can’t afford to leave. He gets to puff his chest out like he’s a big man with nobody to take his bluff.

If seeking asylum or parole or any of the other non school/work related status was easier (or even possible) for americans looking to live in other countries, id probably be on my way out already.

Became single recently, and while I still have friends and family that id hate to leave… its mostly paperwork and of course the fear that ill get somwhere else and be miserable and lonely and maybe even homeless.
