Insurance (people pooling money for a bad day) is crucially important to protect the weak in a society. Insurance companies making ridiculous profits is not.
Funding a system to protect the weak (and everyone else) directly is crucially important.
Paying middle men to transfer most of your money (minus any amount they skim off top) into said system is not at all important.
Found the non-American.
I got a feeling its collusion but what do I know.
If it seems like the company doesn’t have a product, we are the product
In normal countries “insurances” are actually what the name would suggest and therefore quite wonderful. The entire population of a country carrying everyones medical costs together is a great concept. The problem arises when there isnt a cap on profit for insurance companies. As long as there is a financial incentive for insurance companies to scam you, they will.
Insurance is a scam in all countries, there is zero need to add middle men into the system. If the people are all paying together, use that as taxes and pay directly into the healthcare industry.
Yeah, that’s called “national insurance”. The point is the concept of insurance is a good idea, it’s only private companies trying to profit from it is what’s the problem.
No, at that stage its called single payerhealth care.
Yes, similar concepts are also called single payer healthcare. No, it’s not the only valid terminology.
Especially that the insurance can pay for other forms of welfare, not just healthcare, and so it would be wrong to call the whole system with a healthcare specific term.
So you think people that have chronic issues should be poor? Because thats what happens when people have to pay individually.
If you mean that the same money going to insurance companies should just go to the state in the form of taxes then thats fucking stupid. The state changes what it wants constantly which means that if the next government is garbage, they will just take all that money people gave for their healthcare and spend it on weapons or the police or some bullshit.
Does your country have a flat tax rate for all people? If so I feel sorry for you. Here we have thresholds, so anything up to like $20,000 is not taxed and the next band is 15% up until $45,000 and so on and so forth.
Ideally society should ditch currency all together and work to provide for all based on the understanding that it enables the best quality of life for all.
Ah so you’re some sort of AnCap, favouring business over the state? Yeah, this community probably isn’t going to be a good fit for you.
