“That’s completely unheard of,” Janne Haaland Matlary, a professor with the University of Oslo and a former politician, told public broadcaster NRK. “It’s a total lack of respect for the award, on her part,” she said, calling the act “meaningless” and “pathetic.”
LOL @ the both of them.

Shrewd move by her, shows she’s prepared to use any lever she can to make things better for Venezuela, even gifting her medal in a nice frame to Trump. NB - everyone else does realise this isn’t the same as “giving him the prize” don’t they?
She’s literally collaborating with him so he will hand her the country so she can sell it to oil companies
wtf are you talking about
What’s to dislike about Machado? . She’s brave politician and activist with more legitimacy than just about any other potential leader of Venezuela, who is clearly prepared to do what it takes (suck up to Trump) to get the power to make things better for Venezuelans. Surely better the current dictatorship?
They live on planet Lemmy where doing whatever it takes to try to restore democracy & rebuild a nation is “collaboration” with the enemy & “selling to oil companies”.
Glad it’s not just me. I kinda hoped that someone trying to make a positive change by doing what they can with what they’ve got would get more support - but no, just performative nonsense
Donald Trump is going to use this as a loyalty test, though. Just like calling it the “Gulf of America”, or the “Department of War”. He’s going to start calling himself a “Nobel Prize Winner” and sic his brownshirts on anyone who disagrees.
I have a tshirt that says simply, THE GULF OF MEXICO, I wore it while I had to be in Texas and it pissed so many idiots off.
Fuming.
I wore that shirt well past its time to be washed.
Sure - if not this then something else. That’s a problem for the people of the United States to solve (no one else can). She’s doing the best she can with the tools she has to advance her vision for Venezuela, which seems better than anyone else’s…
