    Ah, I see. 😁

Yeah, I’m using plain Arch since over a decade back, it’s great.

I don’t use docker though, I just use the systemd service straight up.

Wait, your ffmpeg breaks? Often? I don’t think I’ve had that happen in a decade of using Plex then Jellyfin. What’s the use case where it breaks?

If it breaks you can try (and fail) to install the latest version from source for a few hours, before eventually rage-transitioning to CachyOS 😂

The problem was that my distro had an extremely old version of ffmpeg (6.x.x). Some file types and codecs refused to convert.

But I couldn’t just updated it in isolation ~ it became a whole “thing” project of broken dependencies and manually building them from source. I basically bricked my system and couldn’t be bothered fixing it

Oh I see! I guess that’s why I’ve not run into it before, since I’m already on Arch for so long with the latest version of ffmpeg and everything. 😅

The only thing with ffmpeg I had was that Spotify required an old version of it, that you had to install from the AUR.

I got away from this issue by just using Spotify from Flatpak, which has all the deps bundled. ✅😌

Normally I avoid Flatpak and Snap and such, but honestly self-contained apps like Spotify are like the perfect use case for them

Agreed. I use Flatpak for most corporate and commercial stuff like Teams, Slack, Steam, Spotify, and the like. Those are nice to be able to keep somewhat separate from the rest of the system in a way.
