What’s a better pan to use? I’ve tried cast iron, but that became like a second job upkeeping the oil coating or whatever. Stainless steel stuck to everything and was impossible to clean. If you watch your PC grind to a halt generating 1 image over 5 minutes, it makes it less appealing to queue up 1,000 and cherry-pick the best; let alone making videos. It’s too easy right now to use a ruinous amount of compute power for something stupid like a fake dog video without even realising the cost

I think commercial LLMs have this subtle way of writing that makes it feel addictive to talk to them. Even if you ask an innocuous question that should only require a short answer ~ they respond in a way that “keeps the conversion going” and exploits the social part of our brain. Always ending with a question or slight misunderstanding that baits you into answering or correcting. Maybe it’s to extract more information from you or something.

Wheels in the form circular rocks are also naturally occurring. Plenty of human “inventions” are actually just finding useful applications for existing stuff. Like penicillin from mold. And organic iPhones from the Apple tree.

At one of my old jobs, every week there was a 30 minute presentation given by another random coworker. Something about cross-knowledge and culture. It was always hosted during lunch; you were expected to just starve that day, I guess.

I really needed that half hour alone time to partially recover from hours of exhausting masking. It was strongly encouraged to attend, though ~ all the important people attended, and it was noticed if you skipped.

The problem was that my distro had an extremely old version of ffmpeg (6.x.x). Some file types and codecs refused to convert.

But I couldn’t just updated it in isolation ~ it became a whole “thing” project of broken dependencies and manually building them from source. I basically bricked my system and couldn’t be bothered fixing it

I don’t remember, sorry. And I’ve changed OS recently, so all my command line history is gone. I followed some bogus advice I found on a forum lol. I had a cronjob script where I would just run “sudo chmod 777 -R /mnt/Stuff/media” or something. Pretty sure that syntax isn’t even right 😂

I’m using CachyOS now; first time using Arch. It’s pretty cool. I like it a lot so far anyway. Docker Compose is really the way to go with stuff like this. You can keep all the configuration near your data and it will persist across time and space, and to restart your server is simple as. Plus I can read the logs more easily to figure out why the fudge ffmpeg is broken again (it’s probably an AV1 codec)

Most of my problems are with working memory. I also get lost a lot, forget quest descriptions / hints, can’t remember what NPCs told me to do, forget I have key items, get frustrated by reading or long cutscenes, skip all tutorials and then call the game unfair when I lose.

Most challenging genres: metroidvanias (basically the entire game is about remembering where you can backtrack to), some puzzle games, walking simulators, heavy narrative or text story games, some simulation games. Stuff that makes you sit still and pay attention like school

Most compatible genres: open world RPG, rhythm, PvP, action, management. Stuff you can just play around with and figure out intuitively

TF2 is fun because you just walk around and get into silly fights with people and nobody pushes the cart
