I don’t think it’s that simple. Whether one likes it or not, the economy will always recover, particularly because crashes, like trump’s, are engineered. Crashes kill all competition, deeply consolidating the market as only the biggest can survive (or recieve bailouts)

They say this whilst trying their best to make EVs the printers of the car industry. Update? The car stops and bricks itself for the duration of it. Want basic features? You have to pay a monthly subscription for the car you already payed for. Need it repaired? Have to bring it to a dealership with criminal prices because every part is serialized and they have you by the balls. Need a new battery after it kicks the bucket in 4-5 years? Expect to pay $10-20k for a new one. Oh and of course the center terminal/tablet is now crucial for the cars function, so anytime that malfunction it bricks itself again. Oh and it will always track and spy on you with GPS and onboard cameras and microphones.

Is it just me or I always see conservatives having “lucid” moments where they see how terrible, corrupt and violent the maga regime is, but a few hours later, once they get hooked on fox again, they become a diehard supporter again.

Same thing with the subreddit. You see EVERYONE concerned about something the GOP is doing, but they never mention it again or acknowledge it again. Lucid moments where all the commenters seemingly revolt against the Republican party that suddenly fades without any lasting impact.

Its the execution that determines if its appropriation, or appreciation. Appropriation of Japanese is something I’m closely familiar with because my interest in Japanese craftsmanship, knives and blacksmithing

If someone is using the culture to sell a mediocre, tangentially related product, disrespecting the original culture, is appropriation. If the product itself is executed faithfully, with dignity and respect to the culture it comes from, or is inspired from, then it’s appreciation.

There are a lot of Japanese knife scams that poorly attempt to imitate somebody the features of Japanese knives, made out of junk steel, mass produced in China. These are appropriation.

There are some western blacksmiths who are genuinely as skilled as their Japanese counterparts, who make excellent Japanese style knives, faithfully recreating all of the details, features and quality as authentic examples. This is appreciation.

I’ve been grappling this for a while now, and how to think about it. It’s so sad that just about every being has to constantly work and suffer to prolong their existence (which only consists of work and suffering).

To what extent should we avoid the suffering? To what extent should we embrace it? Prolong it? Are there different types of suffering? Are some more preferable to others? Is suffering to produce art, or other creative work, better than the suffering of menial labour or going hungry?

How much should your children suffer? Should they suffer rigorous education and studying, or should you only occupy yourself with providing for them? Should you provide them a wealth of knowledge of life lessons and wisdom, or try to build up the largest pile of inheritance you can?

Firstly, I don’t agree with anyone in this chain, but man… there are just some people who damn near physically incapable of learning.

There’s also the simple fact that a huge portion of the population just don’t care about politics or government. If “didn’t vote” was an option for eligible voters, it would have won every election in US history.

Its because you have to have a certain degree of apathy in nature. Apathetic enough not to drain yourself on distant others, but not so much you neglect your own kin and offspring.

These are such conditions that allow for a fascist takeover. It is THE fascist playbook, to fearmonger the safety of your children, and scapegoating it on others. Its your empathy that drives you to protect your children, and the apathy that pushes you to accept the persecution of minorities.

This is why fascism is so pervasive, it preys upon the biological workings of human psyche. This is what needs to be taught in schools rather than “a bunch of evil people got into power and killed everybody”

Holy shit, these type of people are the worst. My narcissistic mother is like this. Constantly asking for guidance for literally everything “grab me half a bulb of garlic” “how much is half?”. Then afterwards blaming you for giving her such a complicated task, and goes on and on about how the way you work is sooooo backwards, and that if she just did everything herself it’d be sooooo much simpler (she says as the dissects the garlic clove by clove, weighing each one as she gets the closest possible value to half the total weight).

Yea this is something I’m dealing with as a self employed young adult now. Its genuinely getting on my nerves when friends in college or younger complaining about being super bored and saying “there’s nothing to do!!”.

There are certainly times I don’t want to do anything but I never have the opportunity of being “bored”
