  • Yeah the best term that would fit would be peasant or serf but even that feels wrong. Problem is ancient Egypt existed so long ago that a lot of their social structures are a bit alien at this point to the average person, just because it was so damned early in history. Its basically like comparing the stem mammals to modern mammals, real close and lots of similarities but still quite different.

  • Most of them did collapse and fail or were otherwise scavenged for materials and lowered a few floors. So it’s not like these were all lasting for some massively absurd timescales on average, what we have are the well built ones. We probably do have plenty of structures that will be around in a thousand years with proper maintenance, it’s just that most large scale building of comparable sizes are only about 200 years old at most, which is roughly comparable to when the larger Roman building in Gaul and Britain started to get a bit rough according to chroniclers.

  • High-rises? No. Multi story buildings some going up to six or seven floors? Yes. Plenty of them survived up until around the high medieval period but we’re starting to come down by the Renaissance, though there are some examples in Revenna Italy. It’s been about 1500 years since the fall of the Western Roman Empire and about 500 years since the Eastern Roman Empire, regardless of how well built that’s a long time for any tall structures, a good example is the Lighthouse of Alexandria which while a bit older was rendered ruined around the same period and subsequently scavenged from to construct something newer, much like it’s Roman counterparts.

  • Proactive vs reactive, these dipshits are going out of their way to cause suffering and death. Watching them bleed out and die or refusing to render aid or even just offing them yourself isn’t becoming them.

Fun fact during WW2 on the Pacific front allied soldier (American, Australian, New Zealander, Canadian, etc) took to shooting surrendering or injured Japanese troops. This would usually be classified as a war crime, but there are exceptions to that rule in this case since the Japanese soldiers had a tendency of playing dead, trying to kill medics, falsely surrendering, and pulling the pins on their grenades and blowing themselves up.

One does not become their foe by reacting to them accordingly. One becomes their foe by proactively doing the same thing, like the Nazis and Soviets raping and murdering each other and the territories and people between them.

  • Dude he’s a narcissistic man child with practically no capacity towards humanity as a concept. They don’t care about morals for they are without morals, they don’t care about honor for they are honorless, they don’t care about reason for they are without reason, all they have is ego and vanity with no self reflection. The only way to attack folks like Trump in a way that hurts them and their followers is to attack their appearance because their character is largely irrelevant, at best attacking their character is for bolstering our side not weakening theirs.

It’s shit but this is what happens when your foe holds no ideals, morals, or ideology and whose only goals are sadism and avarice.

  • The anarchists were trying to kill Korra and break the avatar cycle later on because reasons. Pretty sure they didn’t want to risk another Kyoshi, which in all honesty valid. Also they kidnapped the new air nomads but I think that was so they could kidnap Korra so… Yeah.

Legit I think Korra would’ve joined them had they not started fucking with her, especially since outside of Zuko, Tenzin, and her own father damned near every person in power she encountered was a damned fine example of why they were right.

Legend of Korra fucked up by making every one of the bad guys except season 2s somewhat reasonable. Amon was a hypocrite but not necessarily wrong from a historical point of view (Dai lee, fire nation), the Red Lotus were just anarchists who went a bit far, and I got bored with season 4 so I can’t remember anything about Earth Nation female Bismarck.

  • Also doesn’t help that the Scottish and Irish diaspora in North America is fucking massive even if you are just going by self identification let alone genetics. It’s kinda inevitable that clan and military tartans would get misused eventually.

Also as someone who self identified as California-Scots let me tell you the fucken breadth and width of folks who identify as some variety of Scots and/or Irish is downright mind numbing, I’ve met fellow pals bastards like myself, Native Americans who integrated it into their families identity, and at least one black dude who’s grandfather was adopted by a McNulty and who carried that name still. All of them are valid and I will disembowel and feed to the ravens any who disagree.
