Well, turns out people in different generations, while they may on the whole share various traits, are in fact individuals with different life experiences, temperaments, and attitudes.
That said I am seeing my own Gen-X peers turning “boomer”: entitled assholes who also attempt to turn the abuse and neglect we survived into virtues. I think a lot of this is completely literal survivor bias, but also “survivors” in terms of who gets seen and heard.

6·12 days agoTwo others I mourn the death of, as in, it’s more often done wrongly than not, at least on the Internet:
“Led” as the past tense of “lead”: I basically never see it any more. People just use “lead” for the past tense; and
Singular “die.” People just use “dice” for both plural and singular. Though I occasionally see plural “die.” I hate this.
Come fucking on. We know why. So they can use up workers like fucking snot rags. That’s why. Because they are monsters in service of monsters.

Truly one of the all-time greats and it drives me crazy because I can’t explain what makes it so good without spoiling it!

That death, and the “death” of half your controller, feels like an amputation. It makes it so real and visceral. Like real grief, the feeling is that a part of you has been ripped away. Frankly “meditations on grief” are a dime a dozen in indie games, but this one is one of the most intense ugly-cry gut-punches I have ever experienced in any medium. Well actually the ugly cry was later, when you realize the absolute devastation the father suffers.
But yeah, that controller trick–and realizing you even can use the other half to swim–phew. Just such a good game. Always happy when I see someone else who has played it.
Magpies are awesome. Crows are awesome. Pigeons are awesome. I do have mixed feelings about invasive house sparrows.
