A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Social Security payments predicted to be cut in 2032
5·4 days agoThe problem with it is that they’ll just keep stealing from it. The fund was fine where it was, the problem was that the gov doesn’t know how to properly spend the money it gets.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Top 10% of Americans Have Double Wealth of The Bottom 90%
2·5 days agoEven if you got it from every billionaire and millionaire.
You do know what 340 million multiplied by 1million is right?
It’s more money than has been printed in the history of the world.
I can’t believe I’m having to even state this…

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Top 10% of Americans Have Double Wealth of The Bottom 90%
2·5 days agoThat’s literally a big part of your argument…that we could give everyone all 340 million people in the usa…1million dollars…which is so much money the entire worlds gdp wouldn’t cover it. It’s a silly discussion point.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Top 10% of Americans Have Double Wealth of The Bottom 90%
21·6 days agoLol…no…no we could not give every American 1mil and be fine…who taught you math, as they either sucked at teaching or you didn’t pay attention.
That’s the price for just a papered horse. A horse with a few wins and a good line will run you around 5-10k. Then a horse with even better set of papers/lineage and wins, will push into 25k easy. Rich ass people will buy a horse that’s won a lot for a few million, then stand the horse at stud with a vet and collect checks for years until it’s swimmers start slowing down. Then they basically drain the poor bastard dry and then sell or get rid of him. The horse world is filled with shit people, who don’t really give a fuck about the animals.

You’re late to the party, GN released this a year ago. They’ve been doing this already, but because most people who PC game are semi-tech savy, build their own.

News@lemmy.world•What's Behind the Rise in Colon Cancer in Young Guys?
1·8 days agoPeople are not wanting to cook, this is not a “they have no time”. They don’t cook because fast food is easier.
We live in a consumerism society, which so many have gotten used to. It’s why if this society collapses, starvation is going to be off the charts. People don’t know how to survive anymore without instant meals and premade food.
You also pointed out that they don’t have time. Which I provided with evidence that the rise of CRC is hitting the Netherlands just as bad, and they have some of the best work/life balance on the planet.

The Netherlands works some of the shortest hours in the world, has some of the best healthcare, and also has a rise in CRC. This is not a capitalism bad argument. This is a change in our society, and potentially a “microplastics are everywhere now”. This has nothing to do with capitalism bad.

28·9 days agoYea that again, doesn’t negate what I’ve stated. Tiny increments throughout a technologies life is great, just like ICE vehicles, but it’s tech from the 70s and we need the next leap forward.

Technology@lemmy.world•New nickel-iron battery charges in seconds, survives 12,000 cyclesEnglish
1012·9 days agoThose while are great are just pushing the tech in tiny increments. It’s still the same tech. Kinda like how ICE vehicles got better and better, but they still use non-renewable energy.
This tech we need, is the leap from ICE to electric vehicles…vs an old model T to a modern Corolla.

News@lemmy.world•What's Behind the Rise in Colon Cancer in Young Guys?
2·9 days agoMost people in the past worked just to be able to eat. It’s way easier to get food now than ever. This isn’t a capitalism thing, this is consumerism and being to lazy to cook home food. It’s way cheaper to eat grocery store bought food you prep and cook for yourself than it is to eat fast food. That shit is expensive as fuck.

News@lemmy.world•What's Behind the Rise in Colon Cancer in Young Guys?
21·10 days agoNaa, humans consume a lot more fiber than in the past. Salted meat was basically one of the main things we were able to store for long periods of time. The one thing that has changed? Overeating and sedentary lifestyle.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In your opinion, what is the best brand of cell phones in terms of quality and price today?
3·11 days agoAll of my google phones…minus the nexus 6 have had hardware issues, but now I’m looking at a pixel 9 pro xl and wanting to put Graphene on it…but damn
I’ve had a nexus 6p - battery went to shit in basically 2 years, nexus 5, same issue and power button fucked up, then I got a pixel xl2 and… fingerprint reader went out, power button only registers a press every like 40 times, and battery is complete shit.
Still running a note10+ on its original battery, but I think it’s time to update…but the bad taste from google has me scared for a repeat.
