It’s so stupid. People like JD Vance are so stupid. They don’t even consider that they could spin this as a bad event, and the shithead should be prosecuted and that their ICE actions are valid. I don’t agree with ICE and I’m not defending them. But if ICE is valid, then it’s valid that they could fuck up too. It would help their cause to run things in a less toxic way.

But I also think this is why there is also truth to what the op said about people getting shittier. They fall down dark rabbit holes much easier now. They have bad ideas validated. They fail to find healthier relationships with others in the world. They isolate from local community and spend time immersed in negative cultures online.

A ton of the negativity these days comes from knowing you are always talking to an ineffectual drone who possesses no power. And often times they also seem to lack any motivation to have any empathy. Due to low pay, shitty policies forced upon them, and being forced to do the support over the phone.
The way everything is structured today is just terrible. And it’s in part because these companies insist on growing to a scale where good support is impossible to provide without major price increases. It’s all fucked.
They are helping a host of stores implement this. So best look up the list and boycott all of those too.
Yet again, we have difficulty having shared definitions of the most basic words.
We really need to address this some day. So much conflict will go away once we stop arguing about the definitions of words.
Maybe words are too imprecise, and we need something else. But on the other hand, we have precise words for lots of things. But it’s considered elitist or whatever to use them. “$10 words” are often just very precise and replace a bunch of other words in a sentence.
