  • Ignorant take. Santa Monica just announced a new title, and original GoW trilogy has been stuck on old hardware for more than a decade.

On top of that, many action games are stuck on old hardware (God Hand, Viewtiful Joe, OG Ninja Gaiden… etc.) and a successful re-release of this trilogy could encourage other developers to follow suit.

I wouldn’t comment on shit I have no interest in/don’t know much about if I were you.

Unfortunately, some genres struggle going indie because they’re too expensive to develop and aren’t guaranteed to sell well. There is a reason PlatinumGames can’t afford to make Bayonetta if Nintendo doesn’t put up the money, for example, and almost every indie studio that attempts a similar feat has to spend years and years in early access.

The Genokids developer has been working on the game for +5 years and has only 2 chapters to show for it. Mahou Arms released on Steam in April 2020, and is still in early access today.

The world has become too expensive for some things to comfortably exist, or exist at all, unfortunately.

  • You could’ve clarify by saying “hack and slash”, which is what the og GOW and DMC are, “action game” is so broad it could even include ff7r, kh, and even battletoad

“Hack and slash” is not the definitive name of the genre. It’s just what you know to call it. There’s no definitive name to that genre, but you wouldn’t know that because, again, for some absurd reason you’re in an online argument over a topic you clearly don’t care about.

Thread is literally over a GoW game. If you couldn’t figure out what kind of action game I’m talking about from the context, that’s on you.

It’s open forum, i can join any conversation i like.

Hey, go for it. It’s your wasted time, not mine.
