The reason people promote it as not american is because europeans are trying to move away from american big tech. However, since many people dont even know about any european alternatives, Content creators in europe have started the di-day (digital independence day), where at the first sunday of every month they inform about how to get more independent from american big tech. Sadly though, this struggles to get out of the tech bubble.
