Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit, Meta, and Google Voluntarily Gave DHS Info of Anti-ICE Users, Report Says
13·4 days agoMight be a naive question but what prevents instance admins here on Lemmy to also give this information?

Lemmy brings out the old internet!
Well, none. He can do whatever he wants.
His government is slightly smarter than him so for now we’re safe, however no one’s going to stop a dictator.
It will inevitably happen. One day a dumb enough ruler will use it.
But what happens next? Do we just stop there, apologize and go back to our normal lives?
And you’re probably right, the next bomb would destroy that ruler, but only if the receiver has nukes as well. If he doesn’t, who’s going to do anything to defend/avange him? No one wants to enter an nuclear war.

202·9 days agoI don’t know if it’s your fault honestly. It’s the system that makes you want to offshore your work to developing countries and not hire local employees. I get it. It’s cheaper. But when even independent developers start doing this we have reached post-late stage capitalism at this point
Don’t threaten us with a good time

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A hacker with thigh-high striped socks should take one for the team and really unredact all the names (and I mean *all of them*) in the Epstein Files.

And it was sarcasm for the CO2 detector thing

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Using the same abbreviation scheme as "internationalization" -> "i18n", the word "to" can be abreviated as "t0o".
1·12 days agoTrue, however when I wrote this I didn’t know how it worked and I thought it was reversible :)
I should’ve seen that t1o could be two or too as well…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there anything like church without the church?
1·12 days agoI thought their core philosophy was accepting people no matter their social status, religion, occupation or wealth…
I guess it depends on the lodge. From what I’ve read, most of them say that of course it’s easier if you already know someone, but you can just contact them directly if you don’t.
Obviously I don’t know whether or not the selection process is fair to everyone. They say it’s about your values but it could secretly be about your connections and power.
Maybe you can reach out to your instance’s developers and ask them if it’s possible to implement this? Personally I haven’t had any issues with it
Edit:

Well I spoke too soon. But I believe it wasn’t even a cross post, the original poster just copied and pasted
I don’t know if it’s exclusive to some clients, but on Mlem at least you can choose to hide/ show read posts. It works pretty well and prevents reading 5x the same thing.

Oh yeah that’s true, and also that’s why we should move away from lemmy.world. It’s great to welcome newcomers but it shouldn’t be where most users are.
