I don’t really have a computer capable of running a local AI. I have an i3 laptop from around 6 years ago with 12gb of RAM and integrated graphics

I don’t use it that much, maybe a couple of questions a week and some help understanding Japanese grammar

Technology@lemmy.world•Car Wash Test on 53 leading AI models: "I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive?"English
102·12 days agoEven when they give the correct answer they talk too much. AI responses contain a lot of garbage. When AI gives you an answer it will try to justify itself. Since they won’t give you brief responses the responses will be long.
It’s not even a good movie to begin with, no need to give it a pass on the sexism and other issues

It would be a slow series of scientific papers over the course of years as confidence in the findings slowly increases. Starting with “there’s something interesting going on in the atmosphere of this exoplanet” until we finally get to "we’re 95% confident that this is a biological process, but this exoplanet is 50 light years away so we can’t really do anything else with this information right now.

News@lemmy.world•Some cities are ditching license plate readers over immigration surveillance concerns
3·16 days agoMy city installed a bunch of them and promptly removed most of them when DHS started using them last year
The only ones I still see are on 2 intersections where crashes happen very often, so I guess they have some “real” purpose. As soon as you cross into the next cities there’s almost one per intersection, I hope they remove them as well

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Every Puerto Rican is an American citizen. Enjoy the Super Bowl.
61·24 days agoThe correction is that the restriction is under the territory, not on the citizens. If they migrate to a state they can vote for president. If a citizen from a state moves to the territory the can’t vote for the president

I think it’s depending on the area. On a roadtrip I found 2 with very different prices, about a 60% difference.
The cheap one was in a gas station town in the middle of nowhere and the expensive one in a nice suburb of a medium city
