I agree, I know why they do it and I can appreciate it, but it’s just not for me. I do not want my history and cookies cleared when I closed the browser, for instance. That is massively inconvenient and not really relevant to my “threat model.”
So I guess I wouldn’t say they are bad, but certainly not ideal for me.
On my Z Fold 6, I do notice that Samsung Internet, Chrome, etc are smoother, that is absolutely true. It’s not really enough to matter to me, though, doesn’t really warrant being described as “choppy” in my experience. My default is IronFox with uBlock Origin.

Floorp (which I use) does not distinguish itself from Firefox with regards to AI features, so if those features existing is a problem for you it’s not an option either.
From what I’ve read elsewhere, precedent is already set. Other game storefronts providers, including Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, do make such payments to PRS. Valve is the odd one. I’d love it if someone here could confirm or deny this.

You’re right. Computing devices need to be locked down in such a way that prevents consumers running software that isn’t signed by an approved/licensed software vendor owned and/or favored by an oligarch and existing general purpose computers need to be made illegal. We don’t need “hobbyist programmers” anymore, humans have no place writing code.

I’ve upgraded my 13 with new mainboards twice. I’ve yet to upgrade my 16 because everything is too expensive now, and upgrading the GPU to the newer nVidia module would require replacing the screen too and fuuuuuck that. Maybe they’ll put out a new AMD module that won’t require replacing a perfectly good screen.

It’s been a few years so it may not be the same nowadays, but when I used Manjaro for a bit it was always just a matter of time before an update broke everything. Probably had something to do with chaotic-aur. It was great otherwise, though. I wouldn’t let it get to you.
Now I use a Fedora Atomic distro, which is like… the opposite of risky upgrades.
