Thank you! And, yeah I was thinking that… I didn’t snap a picture this morning. I’ve been making this for going on a week and a half now and after tasting this one I thought it was ready to share. I wonder if I can update the post tomorrow with a photo or if it’s stuck as a text post forever. Maybe I’ll just resubmit it after I take a beauty shot.

I didn’t include anything about making the rice or noodles, but I didn’t think people needed instructions on that. I put kettle boiled water in a saucepan for a portion of knife cut noodles as I start to prep and they’re done around when I’m done. I’m sure any noodle would work fine.

I use Fleet Foxes’ Sun Giant as an alarm, the deep inhale in the beginning gets me up instantly then the soft music is comforting as I stir awake. But might not be as useful for a teen who can’t wake up.

Streetlight Manifesto’s Everything Went Numb starts with horns and quickly gets upbeat and fast, great track that seems hard to sleep through.

Moxy Fruvus’ King of Spain has a good mix of upbeat, percussive vocals and a slightly embarassing Weird Al/comedy acapella vibes that might make it insufferable to sleep through.

I understand the urges and anger at the current system that inspire this kind of reply, but as another user pointed out, this guy, even if ostensibly on the side of the working class, is distributing misinformation.

The plight of the proletariat is dire as is, we don’t need to resort to far right tactics to prove that point and citing fake studies weakens the case for change in the eyes of people who have the media literacy to check those things.

Yo, thanks for doing the work on this. I was really curious about the sources for this, because I’d love to show it to some people I know who don’t engage in these sorts of spaces that haven’t yet woken up to the plight of the proletariat that they in fact share.

I made my comment in between waking up and getting my morning chores done, so I was hopeful someone would be able to cite the study during the work week this week as me and my coworkers gripe about rising costs, hopeful that’d shake some of them out of their rabid dedication to the messaging of the Republican party. It’s a shame it’s a farce.

I understand media literacy is on the decline, and I understand the appeal to want to say things like this because they certainly feel true, but I wasn’t alive in '71 and this sort of comparison, while poignant, requires some more study and math than I think is approachable to the average bear.

We all gotta be on the lookout for dishonest actors like this. These kind of tactics are exactly what the far right have been doing for decades to fool their base.

I think it’s irresponsible to say stuff like this without citing the study.

Saw a neat tip today for poached salmon that had you place the salmon in the poaching liquid skin up, but only use enough liquid to cover the flesh, leaving the skin exposed, and place it under a low broiler to poach, so you get tender poached salmon with crisp skin.

Not a dish I make often and my partner abhors the skin (Monstrous, I know) but it seemed like a good tip!

I make some pretty damn good Tamil-style goat curry, or green Thai curry. If they’re afraid of flavor, I make boef bourguingon and fondant potatoes made with duck schmaltz.

If I really care about em, I make Peking or Canton-style duck, a true labor of love, and if they want something sweet, I make one hell of a pumpkin cheesecake with candied pecan topping and Graham cracker crust. Or creme brulee, especially if I have fresh fruit. That always impresses, despite being one of the easier things to make.

I highly trust and recommend Serious Eats, the rare site where the blog post of the recipe has value.

Zionism is an imperialist mindset in that it promotes that members of its in-group (Notably other Zionists, not all Jews, you can see this socially in the Zionist attitudes towards Diaspora and anti-Zionist Jews and institutionally in Israeli treatment of Beta Israel) have this “master of the universe” status. Thankfully, attitudes among the American Diaspora are shifting. A recent AP poll indicates that 30% of American Jewish adults agree that Israel is committing genocide while 49% do not. The poll wasn’t about support for Israel, but I would like to think people who think Israel is committing genocide do not support Israel and I would hazard that not all of the remaining 70% support Israel, though it is likely that at least 49% or around there do.

While Israel’s actions have been extremely polarizing in the past, let me tell you that attitudes among the Jewish kitchen table and the tone and topics regarding Israel have changed drastically over the past thirty years. More and more, I hear other Jews vehemently denounce Israel during holidays, to the extent of changing traditions and rituals to not include its name. It’s difficult to communicate just how large of an indicator that is, culturally. I’ve even seen people who do support Israel bite their tongue instead of bringing up a conflicting opinion. This is also a large cultural indicator of change in a cultural where spirited debate is common over even frivolous things.

Attitudes are changing. And it’s because of responses like Coleman’s that the American Diaspora is rejecting imperialism falsely done in their name. Or perhaps attitudes like Coleman’s are a sign of desperation as support wanes.
