I’m saying that statistically cyclists endangering pedestrians is a non-issue because it happens so much more rarely than cars endangering pedestrians or cyclists. Bringing it up all the time only fuels carbrains and car lobbies.
No, but I did go to the hospital with by boyfriend who got run over while riding straight on a straight road with right of way by a car turning left without stopping at the stop sign, so if all you want to do is throw around anecdotes be my guest. Statistics say way more people (including kids on sidewalks) get hurt by cars.
So 0.002% of cyclists get a fine every day even though there is a dedicated unit watching them. That sounds like they are behaving quite well.
100 cyclists a month doesn’t sound like a lot when there are thousands commuting through every day. Unless you give comparable numbers for both car commuters and cycling commuters and the number of fines this is saying nothing. For exampe, this week police in the netherlands were doing a traffic stop for cars and handed out 177 fines for 130 cars stopped because of multiple infractions per car, and this was one location one day.
Perhaps it is safer cycling across a crosswalk while the only other traffic is pedestrians, instead of going with the flow of cars when cars turning left or right can run you over.
I live somewhere where half the traffic lights don’t have buttons and don’t respond to cyclists. So when there are no cars to trigger the light I just check if it’s safe and go. Meanwhile I have been nearly overrun by cars speeding through red because it was orange 3 seconds ago and see a car going >50kph in my 30kph street almost daily. A bicycle is not a vehicle (at least in france in collisions we are classified as pedestrians). We are way more vulnerable and less harmful and the roads are often not made for us, so we have to adapt our riding to be most safe. Sometimes that means taking a pedestrian green instead of a car green light because it is safer too.

As long as you’re okay with being the least climate-friendly and probably having cancer by the age of 50. People need fibre.

The quality if the food you eat is such a big determiner for quality of life though… I would rather spent a few hours every weekend mealprepping and living an extra ten years of healthy active life. Plus, if you can save 600 dollars on food you might be able to just work less.

I read a study that the ideal holiday lasts for more than 8 days. One of the reasons is that if you leave for less there is usually little adjustment made to your workload, whereas if you leave longer tasks are distributed to others for that period. This will depend on your type of work and workplace though.
I’ve seen a timelapse of sleeping squirrels before and they sleep in any and every position possible and keep changing it up.

I think most famous is bohemian rhapody, less famous: little girl blue by Janis Joplin (she is famous, but I never hear this song). Least famous: kantklossen by de klojos.

I’ve forgotton a towel when I went swimming before. Ended up using my shirt as a towel and dressing in just my sweater.

I understand, but my problem is with influencers pushing only (animal) protein without considering other dietary factors important to health.
For protein sources, a quick look online says seitan, quinoa and nuts (for vegans) and eggwhites, cottage cheese (for vegetarians) are your most efficient options looking at protein per 100 grams. If you prefer lower calorie foods, beans, green veggies and mushrooms are also good options (high protein percentage but you have to eat a lot). For a high protein diet, especially for veggie/vegans it’s generally better to replace every meal with one slightly higher in protein than to try to add one foodstuff to your diet to achieve it all. For example quinoa or whole wheat options for your rice/pasta. Adding lentils to your tomato sauce and yogurt with nuts/seeds instead of cornflakes will get most people a very long way.

Are you aware livestock eats farmed crops too? Taking out the middle man (or cow) makes the whole thing more efficient at least.

Noone is saying get all your protein from beans. Maybe 25 grams from beans is doable, then have some yogurt, some whole wheat pasta/bread stuff, a few eggs. Variety in your diet and whole foods are more important than hitting specific macros as you get a good range of micronutrients, fibre and your gut microbiome is happier.
The phrase “you can’t outrun a bad diet” exists for a reason. If you are not already doing lots of sports your body simply cannot handle the 1-2 hours if intense activity every day to burn off that caramel latte and bag of chips. Then, when you do get to the level where you can do lots of sports, you will notice a bad diet impacts your progress and recovery and you are stuck eating a lot, but mostly healthy food.
Belgium! They are all in Belgium.

That I feel immense guilt about any time spent not being productive in some way and believed (wrongly) that you can always just plan and to-do list your way out of feeling crappy. I basically learned to forgive myself for needing time to recover from stuff.
Historically several animals have been put to trial.
