20W/drive means 30x24x0.2 kWh each month for 10 drives. At 0.20€/kWh, that’s 28€/month, cheaper than a 20TB Hetzner box. That’s assuming all drives are always spinning, as an idle drive uses more like 5W.

2·7 days agoThe newer Xboxes already run Windows. MS could distribute their 360 emulator on regular Windows.
The Xbone and Xbox SeX can play 360 games just fine, and they are essentially PCs running modified Windows.
I don’t know about your country specifically, but here in France hunters regularly shoot at cyclists. Their main union even complained about a new law imposing a legal limit of blood alcohol content during hunting sessions.
6·7 days agoThe original DOOM is entirely playable on a keyboard, though. It’s essentially a 2D game, as you can’t look up or jump.

2·10 days agoOn Windows 10, it is not possible to have different audio volumes for left and right. The control exists in the UI but does not work, both channels move in sync when you change them.
The NGage even used literal SD cards.

This is how you sound BTW. 4k or even 1080p is objectively better than DVDs’ 480p. There is no reason to still use them other than cost or being a contrarian.
No hard drive and no GPU is trivial.
No RAM is harder, but I guess it’s possible if you use an SSD or magnetic tapes as memory (albeit extremely slow).

Jokes aside, the fact that Wine defaults to mounting your entire drive to the fake Windows environment is a major security issue. This whole project is a very impressive engineering feat but the user experience is so bad it can have disastrous consequences.

Android TV is absolute garbage. It’s horrible to use with a remote, is full of ads, and is somehow sluggish on a 1.5GHz quad core.
Those are incredibly hard to find, if they even exist.
