Maybe the reason I don’t see much of a difference is because I’m using old reddit?

Huh interesting, thanks for explaining! Sorting by new includes all kinds of random subs, so it doesn’t look much more curated to me than /r/all, though.
But they direct users to /r/popular instead… what’s the difference there anyway? It doesn’t seem to have any special inclusion rules, as I can still get all the zero upvote zero comment posts if I sort by new. So I don’t see what the point of /r/popular was/is before /r/all’s removal.
The way it’s worded, it does sound like /r/all is the experiment they’re referring to.
But I think it makes more sense if they’re referring to an experiment involving /r/all. I remember reading months ago that they wanted to remove it, maybe they are referring to an A/B testing experiment (remove it for some people and not for others) there.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit banned me from r/help because their AI thought my posts “looked like AI"
3·11 hours agoWorth noting that when Reddit marks stuff as requiring a moderator review, it appears as removed until the mods approve it.
So
After that, every post I made was auto‑removed before any human could see it
this doesn’t necessarily mean no one had a chance to see it.
Though I assume
the mods only saw the AI removal notice
means that you asked the mods and they informed you of this. But if you didn’t get that information from them directly and are just assuming, your posts were most likely marked for review.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit banned me from r/help because their AI thought my posts “looked like AI"
4·12 hours agoIt sounds more like this is a mod issue. There’s nothing at all stopping the same mods from coming here.
Glad you’re here in the Lemmyverse instead.
So the sense of superiority there is misplaced imo. I’ve seen enough bad mods and anti AI opinions here that I wouldn’t be surprised at all if OP ran into the exact same issue here as well.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit banned me from r/help because their AI thought my posts “looked like AI"
61·12 hours agoDo you have any proof of Reddit having been behind this?
I agree Reddit bad, but I hate how people here keep acting like Reddit and its moderators are synonymous. They’re not. The moderators are volunteers that do whatever they want, regardless of what Reddit wants.
That distinction is important because there’s nothing stopping those moderators from coming here and doing the same thing here. So any sense of superiority there is misplaced if it’s just the doing of moderators.

I haven’t really seen enough of the world to have a favorite city or region myself.
But greetings from Cham, I’m on that map of Zug. It’s rare to see our canton mentioned on the internet.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How often are your windows open? What about during Winter? or during Summer? Do you open windows to let in fresh air?
4·3 days agoAt least once a day. Really depends on the temperature, though. On hot days I open it in the morning to let cool air in, on cold days I avoid leaving it open and only open it temporarily when the air gets noticeably stale, leaving the room when I do so. Inbetween I usually leave it open the entire day.
Though, I only open it fully in the mornings of hot days. Other times I always leave it tilted only.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you set your Lemmy "type" to: hot, active, new, old, etc.?
3·5 days agoI’m not using Lemmy, but my default sort is set to “Active”. Gives me the most interesting feed imo. Well, comments use “hot”.
That said, I don’t usually browse. I have a bunch of users and communities set to notify me on new posts, and I usually already get too many notifications that I don’t also feel like browsing the site after looking at them all. Really changed my view of how active the fediverse is.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can I best go about building and growing a Lemmy community
6·9 days agoI recommend using Lemmy Federate.
It’s a tool that tries to subscribe to your community with a puppet account on various instances. This allows your community to reach those instances and for your posts to appear there.

Technology@lemmy.world•Open-source game engine Godot is drowning in 'AI slop' code contributions: 'I don't know how long we can keep it up'
39·9 days agoNowadays people use OpenClaw agents which don’t really involve human input beyond the initial “fix this bug” prompt. They independently write the code, submit the PR, argue in the comments, and might even write a hit piece on you for refusing to merge their code.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a way to "self-post" on Lemmy like there is on Reddit?
5·10 days agoMbin let’s you do that. Well, it lets you create microblog posts which aren’t scoped to a specific community. Not ones only visible on your profile.
The big issue there is that at that point, whether it’s a Piefed/Lemmy implementation or Mbin’s, you’re having to deal with Mastodon’s main federation problem. Which is that your post only goes out to your personal followers, otherwise it stays on your local instance. Which means you need an existing personal following if you want it to federate anywhere. The threadiverse usually has the luxury of having relays in the form of communities, but with self posts, you don’t have access to that luxury.
I think making a personal community, throwing it at lemmy-federate, and then posting it there really works best in this case. Lemmy-federate uses actors on various instances to subscribe to your community to ensure the posts get federated there.

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube adds new hurdles for ad blockers, and there's currently no way around it
121·11 days agoThere have been some users reporting they get ads despite being Premium users, especially in regards to Youtube’s efforts to bypass adblockers (even if they weren’t using one). I always assumed that’s because their measures were misidentifying the lack of ads as using an ad blocker, even if that lack was due to using premium.
Just wanted to give an actual explanation. I’m not qualified to actually confirm or deny whether those user reports were factual or made up. But people usually consider them factual because of herd mentality.
You’re replying to the wrong comment there. This isn’t about whether they’ll remove it or not.
