Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump to deport hundreds of bison from MontanaEnglish
5·12 hours agoI saw this photo in person last week at a museum in Dodge City, Kansas. Man will exploit any and all resources with little regard for the consequences.
The bison fur coat from the 1800s was neat though.

212·12 hours agoI left Facebook after 18 years. It’s nothing like what I originally signed up for.
Facebook is nothing but boomers, bots and AI generated click bait. A cesspool of our own creation.
Burn. It. All.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do most normal people do on their phones to pass the time?
31·12 hours agoNormal people don’t need a phone to pass the time.
With that being said, the amount of brain rot competing for our attention is staggering.
Silly Mormons up there in their high desert.
Maybe they should be focusing on their imminent water issues. You know, actual problems.
FAFO, baby!

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•California farmers to destroy 420,000 peach trees following Del Monte bankruptcy
22·2 days agoEh, no. It’s bad, sure, but we’re a long way from the state of the economy right before the Great Depression. Here’s an example:
Unemployment peaked around 25% in 1933. The worst of COVID was 14.8% in April 2020.
Housing. The cost of living. Underemployment. Unemployment. Gig work. It all sucks ass right now, but it sucked MUCH harder 100 years ago.
The answer today is the same as back then. Vote better.

Games@lemmy.world•StarFox (N64 Remake) Gameplay RevealEnglish
7·2 days agoMeh. I had the original Starfox 64 VHS promo cassette that hyped the game and rumble pak. The game got bumped as my birthday gift request by GoldenEye 007, but I eventually bought the game in its chunky cardboard box; Rumble Pak and all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the N64 game and had more exposure to that one than the original SNES title, but I think I’ll wait for either PC emulation or I cave and buy a Switch 2. The former is more likely at the moment.
It looks nice, but it’s no “killer app.”

Technology@lemmy.world•Verified by Spotify: New No AI badge— it appears for creators with steady listener activity, clean platform records, and real-world proof like live shows or merch dropsEnglish
4·9 days agoI’ll never understand Spotify. If it’s such a pain in the ass why do people use it? Napster was big when I was in high school so if I find a song I like, I go download it. Sometimes it’s piracy. Sometimes it’s a legitimate purchase. Whichever is easiest.
Done. The end. It’s mine forever.
As far as discoverability goes it helps that there have been no new music releases in the past couple of decades that I care about.

It’s ‘beyond’ the environment.
