I thought it was enjoyable too. :) the aspect of the time travel rules that I liked the most was that you age in real time no matter how many times you reset the past. It really hammers home the point in ways that all the more bombastic stuff in the book didn’t. It made it really tragic in that way.

Hvad er din nuværende bog? 😀

In case you’re into this type of thing, I can highly recommend the youtube channel called Quinn’s Ideas, where a super-nerd deep dives books he loves. He used to exclusively cover A Song of Ice and Fire before moving on to covering Dune, Lovecraft and a few other books, but he also began covering The Three Body Problem before it was turned into a TV series and he is - in my opinion - very pleasant to listen to. He always captures my attention when I click on one of his videos.

You also HAVE to watch this fan made video depicting on the Waterdrop in case you haven’t seen it already. It is mesmerizing.

  • The whole list thing and how you should organize all the task depending on how urgent they are never worked for me.

I have been told to do this, but I can’t do it without a lot of help. It’s as if my brain doesn’t compute that some things are more urgent than others. All things are equally urgent in my head. So you can tell me to do it, even ask me which task is the most urgent one, and I’ll just stare at you as if you just spoke to me in Russian. I don’t fucking know. I don’t know what is more important. I don’t know what I need to do first.

When someone else breaks it down for me, I totally see it. It’s like the fog lifts and it’s so simple and easy to understand, but the second they leave me to do it on my own, I’m back in the fog and everything looks the same. Equally urgent.

I’ve gotten a tiny bit better at it with age, but I am still pretty shite overall.

Also, disclaimer: not officially diagnosed. Just for good measure.

  • It’s not black and white. All I’m saying is that there definitely are Iranians who are celebrating the fall of their dictator and that they are hoping for a brighter future on the other end of this. That does not mean that the US and Israel are heroes nor that their goal is to save Iranians. All I’m saying is that many Iranians are happy their oppressor is dead. That is just as real as their sorrow for the innocent lives who will be lost in this war.

  • Iranians seem pretty interested in having those clips shown. I have followed this conflict on/off for for some time and every Iranian whi gets to have a voice has said they want to be free from the regime.

It is definitely unfortunate that civilians have lost their lives during this invasion, but don’t pretend like that wasn’t already the case on the regular for the Iranian under the regime. It’s actually been pretty prominent in the news recently that they more or less were committing a genocide on the people of Iran as a punishment for the uprising. Whatever lives are lost during this war will be nothing next to the numbers of murders the regime has committed against the people of Iran since the 70s.

And that is not me saying that the lives lost right now don’t matter or that it’s okay when Israel or the US do it. I’m just trying to remind you that these people have lived in fear and horror for 50+ years and they want it to stop.

And btw, are you really doing the “fake news” argument? Really? Just because you don’t like the fact that the vast majority of Iranians are happy their oppressor is dead? They are happy. They are definitely also sad for innocent lives lost, but they are happy to finally have a chance to be free. Deal with it.

  • Im not so sure. Their king is in exile in America and they want him back. From what I could understand, the wish among many Iranians is that he will come back, be the anchor while the waves settle and eventually the plan will be to transition into democracy. But this is not gonna happen tomorrow. This war will take some time and things will not be all smooth and easy, but personally, I have faith that this potentially could be the first step towards a better future for Iran. But it is so friggin dizzying because it’s so many different interests at play and different motivations and none of them are about Iran’s true sovereignty but mostly about power and money - as it always is. I just so hope that them getting their freedom back will be one outcome of all this mess. They have suffered immensely and they deserve peace.

  • First of all: the school children losing their lives is at best a horrible accident and at worst a war crime that Netanyahu can add to the list of things he’ll have to answer for someday.

Second of all: no the videos of Iranians celebrating the death of their oppressor is not AI. That is real. Or are you going to also suggest that the live interviews of Iranians living in my country of Denmark being interviewed on the street while celebrating and yelling and waving their flag, is also AI? Was it AI back during the protests against the murder of Mahsa Amini when Iranians all over the world spoke openly about the oppressive regime and how it specifically targets women over and over and over? They spoke about being freed from their oppression back then too. They have been blocked by the regime, cut off from internet access and journalists have been arrested and murdered by the regime when they tried to report on what was happening in Iran.

You cannot pretend like the horrors of this regime isn’t real just because it throws a wrench into the world view you prefer. This situation is complex and multifaceted and the Iranian people’s suffering and subsequent hope and joy is real. If you can dismiss it with accusations of it being AI, then it tells me everything I need to know about how little of Iran’s recent history you know about. There have even been made acclaimed comics about it. Persepolis. Go read it. It’s great.

  • the thing that absolutely does my head in, in this whole situation is that I find alle these leaders who are shooting at one another to be repulsive scum, but at the same time, if this is what it ends up taking to finally free the Iranians from their oppressors - even though their wellbeing is an afterthought in everybody’s minds - then I think it will be worth it. Just seeing the videos of the Iranian people singing and dancing the streets and celebrating with their real flag is probably the first uplifting thing I have seen this year. Can’t say for sure what will happen next. Propbably a lot of other fuckery, but right now, the Iranians have never been closer to their freedom and I so want that to happen for them.

The fact that it may happen as a result of a bunch of loser man babies being on a power trip is what makes it so emotionally chaotic for me.

  • Are you telling me, that Brendan Fraser did not in fact eat himself into becoming a cocoon of fat and disease while mourning his gay lover and having a dysfunctional relationship with his teenage daughter? What the fuck, bro? I feel lied to. What? Next you’re gonna tell me the binge eating and puking scene was “simulated” as well, huh?

  • It is hard to believe someone could be this terrible, but apparently he has a track record of saying stupid shit like this.

Him saying that all the world’s countries working towards a rise in unemployment is also factually wrong. My country has record low unemployment, but maybe that doesn’t count since I live in a country that generally tries to invest in its population, and not pillage it.

  • Generally agree with you, but I have a few selective exceptions and one of my main ones are the 1994 Pink Floyd concert where they - in the video version - bring out the mother of all disco balls during Comfortably Numb

It’s a 10 minute long performance and literally half of the time is the guitar crying in beautiful agony. Just go to the 5 minute mark if you want to hear one of the best guitar solos ever made. And this comes from someone who isn’t really a fan of long guitar solos.

Another live performance that I prefer over the studio recording is Runrig’s Only the Brave. It just feels appropriate that it’s a big crowd for this specific song. It feels like a song that should have a whole stadium of drunk, happy Scotsman singing along. It always brings a teary smile to my face, when I listen to this live recording.
