You think they made it public, in order to scare journalists? A two-fer act of cowardice, maybe? I can’t help but wonder

21·2 days agoIf people weren’t buying more of them, they wouldn’t’ve changed the size
That’s what you said. If a business is already making sales and profit, why would they decrease the size? You think they were selling the candy at a loss or something, and had to slowly increase revenue?
It’s the definition of “shrinkflation” and it’s anti-consumerism because they aren’t making it obvious that they’re increasing the cost of the product
What kind of ignorant are you, that you can’t wrap your head around that? Go spout your elitist, anti-intellectualism elsewhere, cause ain’t nobody here buying it
And if you truly believe in what you’re saying, good luck my dude, and may god have mercy on your soul

1·2 days agoYou “make no such assumptions” of whether both sizes were available in 1991, but you do assume that the user has no idea how businesses operate. You’re not speaking in reality at all, you’re just arguing nonsensically

Just curious, do you have an easily available source, by chance? Or do I need to dig through the search engines’ slop for more info?

2·6 days agoSo if the customer paid more to cover the cost, why are the businesses entitled to a refund… that will come from the taxpayers?

So you’re saying businesses should now cut deep discounts for buyers, because the (already imported) products’ tariffs have been paid (AND the business is being refunded for it). Are they going to drop prices now? Are they acting upon market pressures or taking advantage/manipulating them?
If you think a wealth-class has to pay any mind to the invisible hand of the free market… I’ve got a nice ass bridge to sell ya, at a tarrif-free + ultra-discounted price!
Most likely mid-back for me. I might glance (depending on the situation), but I’m trying to climb stairs, so my focus is usually on “not tripping”. Staring at someone’s ass the whole way up… a little creeper. Staring at my feet the whole way up… I might fail at climbing stairs. Guess it also depends on our distance/height and where my eye level sits
Flashing your meats by way of cooking naked; it causes their muscle fibers to relax, as they now know you’re not a threat (like showing your “underbelly”). Now you can get a really good sear and lock-in the juices, as you and your meats reach an understanding of mutual vulnerability. You just can’t show any fear though, so no aprons allowed. Trust is essential for tenderness, and vice versa

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•"You don't remember me do you?" is one of the most embarrassing things to hear when meeting someone for what you think is the first time.
7·16 days agoIt’s good to mention, because often people will say “I’m really bad at remembering faces too!”, and it has kinda stopped me from mentioning it to anyone who isn’t very close with me already
I was dating a girl once, and she cut her hair short after about a year into our relationship. She came to surprise me at work, and I just stared at her blankly, wondering what this “customer” wanted. Until she said “hello?”, and I immediately recognized her voice
I’ve come to understand that my brain just doesn’t process faces the same, I recognize traits instead (a natural way to cope). I can recognize people from how they walk better than most, but the face by itself doesn’t really trigger any recognition. Hard to explain, but it’s a little more pronounced than just being bad at remembering faces

11·16 days agoI have some prosopagnosia (face blindness), so this happens to me too much. Can cause a lot of social anxiety. And it’s made me look like a huge asshole sometimes when I’ve seen someone I know, outside of the usual context (at a grocery store instead of work). It’s a pain in my ass
Nope, you are very wrong
