But you could find out all of those things by looking for the code and the PR that fixed it. You could also have debugged it, since source code is available. Not so on windows generally.

Afaik grub should not have any effect on shutting down. Grub is the bootloader, after it has loaded the kernel, it’s done.

16·2 days agoNah. A lot of music sounds much worse without bass, you’re just missing an entire frequency spectrum.

I used to buy my music from 7digital, but they were bought by a shitty company, and also have not responded to questions about albums I bought that are no longer in my library.
So now I use Qobuz. They’re a streaming service, but they have a separate download store you buy stuff from without a subscription.

1·3 days agoWhat are you talking about? Convenience is relative. Yeah, typing in my credit card is less convenient than having it auto-filled. As I said before, I’m not saying it’s difficult or anything, but it most certainly is less convenient than just not having to switch.

1·4 days agoYes, I did use these streaming services before. That it’s not difficult to do does not make it any less inconvenient. I have not had to think about what streaming service a movie or show is on for a few years now, I can tell you it’s great.
Also they make it not difficult on purpose, so it’s easier for you to spend your money with them on a whim. Not relevant to the original argument, but also more shitty behaviour from these services.

Tbf you do have to occasionally pay for tyres if you use a bike as well. Though I could get an entire used bike for the price of one new car tyre.
I mean yeah, if a movie’s audio is already bad in the theatre, you’re most likely not gonna fix it at home lol.
But for properly mixed movies they’re absolutely right. A 5.1/7.1 mix over stereo speakers will sound exactly as described.
Yeah, I think all of my totally legitimate blu-ray movie rips only have 5.1 or 7.1, I’ve never seen stereo outside of TV series.

They also license it to car manufacturers, which is probably why that bit is not open-source. It’s a big source of income for them.

Lmao so you know you’re wrong

Huh. I have also always thought I hate mushrooms, but thinking about it now, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mushroom other than champignon available as an ingredient anywhere. I never even realised until now that champignon is not just what we call edible mushrooms in Dutch, because every time someone refers to eating mushrooms, it’s champignons.
Maybe I should try some different kinds.
