“social” media is prone to promoting fear & hate, unless it’s heavily moderated. Twitter & Facebook completely fail in that regard. Leftift voices leaving these platforms is a consequence of that, not the cause.

I applaud the sentiment, but uhm… I don’t think the comparison is helpful. Fighting external enemies is very different from fighting fascism from within. The “the state champions freedom” vs “the state is tyranny” kind of different.
