I’ve been there, I did manual -> hybrid -> electric.
I did miss the stick when I was driving an hybrid. In the hybrid it felt like was I had to give away some of the control I had on the car by not being able to change gear.
With the EV on the other hand it’s totally different, the car is way more responsive, there is power the moment I press the pedal and the concept of gear disappear.
I don’t miss driving with a stick when driving an EV

Even in France we have our wannabe fascists as well.
I love nixos, it’s been my daily driver for the last 3 years for work and home.
A more accurate metaphor would be:
- When modding the car, with a arch, Debian of most other distros you actually mod the car. If you want to change the seats you physically install new seats.
- With nixos you don’t intervene directly on the car, you change the blueprint of the car and let the robot reassemble the car according to the blueprint.
Who wouldn’t want to have their car assembled automatically
beton scratchfrom scratch each time they need it ?

4·2 months agoIf you were not a troll you would have seen that all the technical documentation about how to contribute and how to host an instance in the repository is in English. The code is well documented 100% in English.
It make sense however that pages for users is in French, since it’s been developed for French users. If you want Geraldine, the secretary of the tax office in Trifouilly les Oies to use it, you need to address her in French.

6·2 months agoThey already developed alternatives for Microsoft Office:
https://lasuite.numerique.gouv.fr/produits/docs as an alternative to word
https://lasuite.numerique.gouv.fr/produits/grist as an alternative for excel and data management (much better than excel in my opinion)
It’s open source, actively developed with Germany and the Netherlands (as I’m writing this post the last commit to doc was 49min ago) and self hostableby any administration or company who want to do it.

GUI tools can be great, I live using then but I hate writing documentation for them.
Documenting CLI is much easier to do and maintain than documenting GUI. A few lines of text that I can adjust if needed vs a pile of screenshots.
