It makes your post look like an image (low quality) instead of a link or discussion (possibly high quality).

Next Lemmy update is going to have an option to block image posts (to remove low quality meme threads). People should stop turning text posts into image posts to avoid being blocked. I also find these hybrid posts quite annoying. You’re making your post look like something it’s not.

Unfortunately, they shot themselves in the foot by responding the way they did. They basically did the job of anyone who wants them taken down and not trusted. It was probably the worst way they could have reacted. Such a tragedy to lose such a valuable website.

The last/only blog post from them was Oct 2024. I see nothing on their site about how or why to use their services, or what they’re even offering.
