I haven’t seen mass attacks succeed against the various parties attempting to become a vanguard. ICE fascists and the like brutalizing the people isn’t the same as succeeding in arresting organizers, even if some have been explicitly called out by the capitalist state. As for the vanguard becoming unnecessary after the proletariat is free, I agree, but we likely have different views on how the proletariat as a whole and it’s vanguard reinforce each other, and what the timeframe for the proletariat becoming actually free is.
As for the “politically unconscious,” this is not a permanent fixture. Again, socialism and communism are more popular than ever before in Statesian history. There’s no chance that everyone of them understands what these words mean, but plenty of them do, and this number is increasing. People’s ideas come from their material conditions, and are largely learned through struggle.
