I heard some conspiracy theorist say they did that to the movie because they thought young males interested in the fighting and incel nonsense wouldn’t both reading the book and exploring the concept.
Now im not saying they’re right, but, it definitely tracks.
The easier explanation is that they had to distill a 200 page novel down to 120 minutes of film and convince people to give them money to make it so they could make those people more money… the irony is thick.
