At the end of the day, everyone has an innocent scared inner child inside of them. You need to protect yours, not by seeing others as inherently good or bad people, but by establishing boundaries and consequences. It’s a less fearful and defensive way of seeing the world and what ultimately allows me to have relationships with certain family members.
I think I would be even more alone
You (and I) probably need to strengthen your inner identity more and grow away from the need for external evaluation. I’m not saying to push people away from you, but to recognize the limitations of their input and strengthen your own inner voice.
I just assume the worst. I’ve read too many history books and know full well how awful our species is at its core.
