    They couldn’t start extracting minerals or gas or oil in industrial amounts in their remaining lifetime.

    They sure do justify taking the island to themselves and each other using rare minerals argument though.

    I just wonder if there is something else to it…

    Wasn’t Marc Andreessen also involved in trying to buy a pile of land from farmers in Califonia to make some kind of weird “utopia” (read: nightmare) city there? What is with these guys and needing to control peoples lives?
